Breastfeeding while pregnant

Is anyone else still breastfeeding during this pregnancy? Has it changed at all/gotten difficult? I’m breastfeeding my 12 month old and I’m 5 weeks pregnant. So far I haven’t noticed any change in supply nor have I experienced any pain/tenderness/aversions yet. I’m hoping my little one will self wean when he’s closer to 18 months but I’m dreading the discomfort many moms have described when bfing while pregnant. I’m also a bit worried that the lack of discomfort so far is a sign that my pregnancy may not be a strong one :( so many worries about the unknown. Is anyone with me?

Re: Breastfeeding while pregnant

  • Hey there! Lurking from May! I have an 18 month old who's still doing night nursing and comfort nursing. My nipples just recently have started getting more sensitive so it's starting to be uncomfortable but nothing unmanageable. I wasn't having any changes until a few weeks ago (I'm currently 10 weeks. ) I've heard supply can drop but as long as you're still consistent it shouldn't too much. Unfortunately my little one shows no sign of wanting to wean so will have to start the process myself in a month or two.

  • This is my third go around breastfeeding while pregnant! Last pregnancy I nursed until the eighth month with no concerns. Other than tender nipples, I have never had an issue with supply.
  • Hey @gravcass 👋🏻 I lurked on the may board while waiting for this to become active 😄 it's good to see someone else lurking too.
Op I can't tag knotties for some reason but my friend always gets pregnant while breastfeeding and has zero discomfort, I'm still nursing my 1 year old but I'm in absolute agony because she's teething canines and chomps and my nipples are just more sensitive by nature, I'd give yours some more time, not everyone feels discomfort right away or you may be one of the lucky ones who doesn't have an issue 🫶🏻

  • Very relieved to see other moms breastfeeding while pregnant. My mil was at my house the day I took the pregnancy test and wanted me to stop breastfeeding immediately. My 21 month old has no intention of self-weaning. I’m so exhausted I can’t be stronger than his cry
  • @knottie6c34d6b5c583f841 I’m with you! I’m also breastfeeding while pregnant and haven’t noticed changes yet, which can be both reassuring and worrying. Every pregnancy is different, so it could just mean things are going smoothly so far. Have you tried using a breast pump to help with any discomfort? You're not alone—there are so many unknowns, but we’re all in this together!
