Weight Gain from Progesterone Vaginal Inserts

Hi everyone. I’m 6wks 4d pregnant with my first child. My doctor has had me taking progesterone inserts for the last month. I conceived via ivf so I’ve been taking them since the day before the transfer - a little over 4 weeks now. Since then I’ve gained 8lbs all in my belly areas and I look like I’m already 3-4 months pregnant. I have been eating healthy and working out but nothing seems to be working to stop what seems to be super rapid weight gain. Has anyone else experienced this before or are experiencing it now? Do you know if this weight goes away after stopping the medication? Did it go away for you? I have a few more weeks left before I’m done but I’m hoping to hear that the weight goes away. That will make me feel a lot better. The thought of gaining weight at this current pace for the rest of the pregnancy is giving me a lot of anxiety. I know weight gain is normal but this feels extreme.

    It can also be a lot of water retention with progesterone!  Talk to your doctor but I'd definitely think the symptoms would stop when you stop the medication.
