Team blue/pink/green: Blue (genetically tested embryo, so I know it's a boy. But we like green in this house)!
Upcoming Appointments: I have a last-minute ultrasound today (I'll explain below) and my RN intake appointment at my OB's office tomorrow.
How are you feeling?: I had a terrifying weekend. We had our 8 week (and 1 day) scan last Thursday (10/17) and everything was great. He measured 8 weeks, 3 days and had a strong heartbeat. No noticeable subchorionic hematoma or anything and they could see his brain forming. Saturday night I went to a college football game and came home to blood in my underwear. Not enough to soak through to my pants but more than what I consider spotting. I had some mild cramping but it has subsided. Sorry if TMI but when I wiped, I wasn't still actively bleeding and haven't had any bleeding since. We're doing a scan to check if baby is OK this afternoon. But I'm terrified. He was a genetically tested embryo and the scan was perfect on Thursday. Why did I bleed?!
UPDATE: Baby is doing great. Strong heartbeat and he's grown a little since Thursday (measuring 9 weeks today). They found evidence of an extremely small subchorionic hematoma. I'm glad to know the cause and I may experience another bleed but it shouldn't be bad and won't be harmful.
Rants/Raves: Just the above "rant."
Questions: How will I get through this pregnancy if the baby is still OK without worrying about another bleed?!
How are you feeling?: finally feeling better. I don’t feel the need to vomit everyday all day, I thought my symptoms of the last 6 weeks would never end!
Rants/Raves: I’m super tired, but not able to sleep the best. It’s also hard to work or find any motivation. All I want to do is watch tv all day. It’s hard to cook for myself or clean still
Team blue/pink/green: I did an early blood test and found out I’m having a girl 🩷
Upcoming Appointments: 11/11
How are you feeling?: good! Nothing too intense for me. Mostly just moody and sleepy, with intense food aversions/cravings. I cried yesterday cause I wanted queso!
Rants/Raves: one of the things bugging me most is increased discharge! It keeps making me nervous that it’s blood but it’s always just discharge. Super annoying!
Questions: anyone else with increased discharge? Anyone else with less severe symptoms then you had expected?
Upcoming Appointments: phone appointment tomorrow and Dr appointment on friday
How are you feeling?: Honestly, terrible. I have an infection and am on antibiotics, which combined with the diclectin makes me pretty tired and miserable. AND I have suspected subclinical hypothyroidism. So between all of this going on in the last few days plus waiting for NIPT results, it has truthfully been a bit rough! Sooo hoping that in week 12 some of this can calm down a bit.
Rants/Raves: Our toddler doesn't seem to realize I am feeling terrible. Or is very forgiving. Or realizes and is trying to be super nice to Mama. Either way, he's my rave this week.
Questions: If anyone else gets subclinical hypothyroidism during this, let me know! We can commiserate.
GTKY: Favorite weather: Vancouver summer sunshine. Not toooo hot, the ocean breeze, it's perfect.
Upcoming Appointments: I had my nurse OB appointment today to go over family history. I requested another ultrasound for peace of mind because my scans were so early on really just to ensure that I wasn't having a repeat ectopic, even though my 5w5d ultrasound had a heartbeat I'd really like to check things out again. So they are going to do an u/s before my next appointment which is at 12 weeks.
How are you feeling?: very much depends on the day which is strange to me. Some days I feel pretty good, other days like a pile of garbage. It's very unpredictable. Today I've felt pretty good, well enough to even get some walks in today which I've been meaning to pick back up as soon as I was feeling better. My main symptom that I still have daily, especially at night, is cramping/tightness/soreness in my lower abdomen.
Rants/Raves: was really hoping to be seen sooner for another u/s - 4 weeks is so long from now. I've been very averse to sugary foods including fruit and even sometimes breads/crackers because it leaves this rancid taste on the back of my tongue, but I've discovered I can handle raspberries and avocado so I finally feel a little healthy again!
Questions: my main question is just to myself - how long can I really get away with not telling anyone else at work? (My principal already knows). I'm basically already in maternity clothes 😂 I am going to try to find an opportunity this week to tell the other girls in the office with me.
GTKY: Favorite weather I am loving this warm, sunny and lightly breezy fall weather we have been having the last few days. It's been absolutely gorgeous.
Questions: anyone else with increased discharge? Anyone else with less severe symptoms then you had expected?
@knottie450461fd7a745c8e me!!! Lots of discharge, always checking to see if it's blood too but it's not. My symptoms come and go a lot which worries me at times but all seems to be going well I hope.
Upcoming Appointments: first in-person appointment this Thursday
How are you feeling?: Ready to have more energy, I feel like I’m dragging most of the time.
Rants/Raves: My car finally gave out and would have been too expensive to fix, so I got a new-to-me car. Not really when we were looking to upgrade but plenty of room for two car seats now so that’s a plus!
Questions: Any recommendations for dealing with headaches? I’ve been trying my best to drink tons of water (making me have to pee all the time) and added in a Body Armour drink for electrolytes but still get pretty regular headaches. Luckily they seem to go away quick with some rest but trying to prevent them, if possible!
GTKY: Favorite weather I love a calm snowfall when it’s not too cold. Walks in the snow are so peaceful because everything is way quieter than normal!
Upcoming Appointments: just had my 12 week appt. switched from an OB to the midwives from my hospital and I feel so much better. The midwife I saw today seemed to genuinely care, understand what I’m going through, and supportive of my birth goals
How are you feeling?: still so tired, nausea is better but gosh I keep thinking I’ll get more energy
Rants/Raves: Already want to be organized and get the nursery in order. My husband is absolutely against getting a room ready and it is driving me crazy lol. My last pregnancy I was worthless the last 3 months with back pain so I feel the clock ticking
Questions: I got the Unity test (similar to NIPT) and it was a guy that pulled the sample. Will that affect the gender you think??
GTKY: Favorite weather- I guess a sunny day at about 50F, love sweaters!
@rlindqui16 I got really bad headaches and migraines my first pregnancy. I took a type of excedrin that was basically Tylenol and caffeine and it helped me a lot! Hope it gets better!
Baby is the size of a (an): lime, or strawberry depending on the app.
Team blue/pink/green: green- not finding out gender
Upcoming Appointments: 10/30 first trimester tests. 10/31 OB check up
How are you feeling?: still terrible. Today I made it home after work just to throw up, shower and get in bed. And here I stay. I just want to cry, I know it’s starting to get better but I wish it would happen faster.
Rants/Raves: my husband has been amazing at taking care of me. I’m basically useless after work, I can’t even be in the kitchen most of the time.
Questions: what is your favorite pregnancy book? I just finished expecting better, next I’m going to finish what to expect… what next?
GTKY: Favorite weather. Early fall! I love the cooler mornings and evenings.
@knottie55622921 if you are planning to breastfeed, I liked The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding by La Leche League before my first was born.
Also, best advice I ever got as a first time mom with all the different reading and information you can find was you gotta be like a cow, eat the hay but spit out the sticks. Meaning you don’t have to agree with or follow everything from any particular book or source, just use any bit that works for you to help build your knowledge bank up. Some books I read the whole thing and I literally only remember/liked one sentence or chapter but that little bit made a big difference!
Team blue/pink/green: 🩷 just found out from the NIPT this week!
Upcoming Appointments: today! Getting the NT scan and having my 12 week appointment.
How are you feeling?: waves of good and not so good. Sometimes very low energy, sometimes very sad, sometimes nauseous, sometimes totally fine lol. I started crying during a scary movie last night because I was sad, not because I was scared... 🤷🏼♀️
Rants/Raves: I was really excit d to find out this baby is a girl. My husband and I would've loved a little brother for our son, but we both wanted a girl someday too. We also couldn't agree on a single boy name and our agreed upon girl name list is long, so that's cool.
Questions: none at the moment really
GTKY: Favorite weather: fall and spring weather in the Midwest is so nice. Cool 60-70 degrees, some sunny days, some rainy days. I'm loving it right now
Team blue/pink/green: Hubby thinks boy, I want either. Have not done the NIPT yet.
Upcoming Appointments: 11/4 ultra; 11/9 OB
How are you feeling?: Meh.
Rants/Raves: I intellectually know this is a miraculous process. There is a little human growing in me. And yet, I feel bloated, nauseous in-between meals, can't stay comfortable to save my life, and waking up in middle of the night just to pee. I am SO grateful for LO (little one), as we have been waiting almost 3 years for pregnancy. It is hard holding the joy and discomfort at the same time.
Questions: This is personal, but I am wondering if there are other women who are plus size on here? Would love to connect.
GTKY: Fall weather. Love wearing cardigans in am and pm, with it still being warm in the day.
