    Team blue/pink/green: Blue

Upcoming Appointments: Nov 1st - Just had one Friday and will now be going every 2 weeks

How are you feeling?: I pushed way to hard this weekend.  I was so sore last night.  The heartburn has been better.  My daughter was small and I can tell that he is definitely bigger than her.  It is getting harder to do certain things which is hard for me to accept because I didn't feel this way last time, at least not until close to the end.  I know we are getting close to the end but at the same time still so far away.

Rants/Raves: My daughter is 20 months but has already hit the terrible 2s.  It is exhausting on it's own but being pregnant on top of it has been so draining.  Little bit of a rave mixed into all of the chaos, she has been learning compassion and it's weird and wonderful all at the same time.  I was upset the other day and she came over, hugged me, and gave a little pat on the back.

Questions: For the one's who are using one, what belly band are you using?  I didn't have to use one last time but I think it will definitely help this time around.  I'm just not sure where to start.

GTKY: Tell us about a one of your favorite Halloween (or fall) memories.  Some example prompts: Best or worst costume, pumpkin carving, apple picking, favorite candy or treat you only get this time of year, etc.
I love carving pumpkins and roasting pumpkin seeds.  My dad started doing it with my brother and I when we were really little and it is one of my favorite things to do.  Since I don't really get the fall weather here, that is something that really kicks off the festive holiday season for me.

Upcoming Appointments: Just had one today, both boys are head down (yay!!!) which means I'm more likely to be able to have a natural delivery, rather than a C-Section.

How are you feeling?: Less heartburn/reflux, but getting so tired

Rants/Raves: Failed the 1 hour glucose test today 🙃🙃🙃 so I'll likely be taking the 3 hour one next.

One thing that comes to mind is that my church growing up had an annual Fall Soup potluck and everyone would bring a crock pot full of their favorite soup and we'd hang out, share a meal together, and reflect on God's faithfulness. Fun memories :)

How are you feeling?: My feet have started swelling. mostly in the evenings, but I don't remember it happening at all my first pregnancy. Also, carpal tunnel continues to be a bitch. I also can't believe how much this baby is moving, I'm starting to wonder if my first pregnancy was an anterior placenta because I don't remember this at all.

Yes to pumpkin carving and seed roasting! I love pumpkin seeds. Halloween isn't a holiday at all in Tanzania, but my kids see it referenced on TV and such so it's been kind of funny explaining it to them. Also growing up, we had a group of friends that we all went trick-or-treating together around our whole neighborhood and it was always so much fun.

How are you feeling?: I am still having a lot of symphyses pubis pain. It makes any movement challenging right now. But in better news, I finally got some good sleep last night and I am feeling so much better mentally! Lack of sleep really messes with my mental health.

Questions: would love any tips y'all have for symphysis pubis pain! I have a referral to the pelvic floor PT but they have a really long wait list.

My husband and I are trying to celebrate the seasons more. For fall, we go all in on pumpkin carving, apple picking, lots of warm cozy drinks and campfires!

How are you feeling?: the last week has been a rollercoaster, but the blood thinner injections are doing their job and I'm feeling a little better every day. Just trying to take it one day at a time, and be grateful for little wins. I am moving much better and more comfortably than this time last week so that has me very happy. Aside from lingering symptoms from the blood clot, I've been feeling very good though.
Rants/Raves: baby boy's kicking and movements have gotten SERIOUS! no more sweet little taps on my belly, I'm feeling limbs pushing up all over me constantly... and I LOVE it. It is without a doubt my favorite part of pregnancy.

    Questions:  None right now

GTKY: Tell us about a one of your favorite Halloween (or fall) memories. Some example prompts: Best or worst costume, pumpkin carving, apple picking, favorite candy or treat you only get this time of year, etc. Oh boyyyyyy I have so many! But I'd probably have to say trick or treating with my two best friends growing up. We all lived in the same neighborhood and have such amazing memories together, I miss them both so much.
Also... pumpkin picking/carving and roasting pumpkin seeds with my godfather every year. I didn't get to see him very often, but this was our special tradition when i was little and i truly cherished it🧡

How are you feeling?: Goodness, ok overall with some bright spots and some dark spots too. I am pretty tired and my bump gets very heavy towards the end of the day. Pregnancy brain has also wreaked some havoc this week.

Rants/Raves: Hmmmmm too many things really, I had my 3 hr glucose test today - not a big deal. My major rant this week is that I find the kick counting to be very stressful. This guy is very mellow and very inconsistent. He moves but he isn’t super active and his movements aren’t super pronounced. I feel so badly about it because it seems everyone else has tons of big movement all the time and that is not the case for me. Each week is the same, it’s not get stronger or more frequent. Very interesting but also can impact my mood. He’s perfectly healthy and moving during scans but just doesn’t seem like what everyone else is experiencing.

    Questions: none really

GTKY: I am in the minority but I love time change, I am a cozy person and love being on the couch or in bed at the end of the day. During the fall/winter I get to do that even earlier! Love it.
  • @jaclyn-ak I'm glad to hear the blood thinners are working and that you are starting to feel better!

@jojosesame I'm sorry you are not feeling the big movements.  The same happened with my first and it can be disappointing.  I remember trying to get her movement on video and you can't even tell.  Also, my husband could barely feel it and he said it just looked like I was breathing when she was moving.  I haven't even had him try and feel this one yet.  I will say that with this one I am getting some big movements but it's not much.  And most of the big movement I get is uncomfortable and sometimes painful.  He keeps hitting something that feels like when you hit your funny bone but down in there which I never had before. It can be very distracting.

Also, I agree that kick counting is very stressful.  They haven't told me to start yet but I know at this point I should start so I started Friday after my appointment.  The first 2 days were great but the last 3 days there hasn't been much movement and Monday night I realized that I hadn't felt him all day (or hadn't noticed) and I got freaked out.  I felt some movement but didn't do kick counts that night.  I was just relieved to feel the movement.  Plus I never know when there are multiple "hits" in a row if I count that as 1 or try and count each one.  I typically go with 1 but then don't get to 10 sometimes.

I'm loving all the answers to the GTKY!  I'm glad to see all the pumpkin carving ones too.  I love it and I feel like not a lot of people around me enjoy it.  We tried to do a pumpkin carving contest at work last year and only me and 2 others did it. I think we might try again this year since we have some new people but I'm not getting my hopes up lol.
  • I have been lurking the last few weeks but trying to get better at being active especially since we're all getting close to the finish line!

How are you feeling?: Exhausted! I now cannot remember the last time I slept through the night. On top of being uncomfortable, my 6yo has apparently decided it's time to sleep regress too.  :s My pelvic pain is almost unbearable. I'm trying to stay positive but lawd, it's kicking my ass LOL!

Rants/Raves: I could write a novel... but I'll spare y'all, ha! Like I mentioned above, I'm struggling with my 6yo and not just at bedtime. Her ATTITUDE is sending me over the edge and I don't know what to do with her. I'm overloaded at work and have already had a discussion with my manager about me still working "part time" while I'm on maternity leave. My emotions are all over the place... still dealing with trying to manage my GD. Ended up being put on a long-acting insulin dose at bedtime but it doesn't seem to be helping my fasting levels so I just stay frustrated and worried about what it's potentially doing to my baby. WHEW... okay like I said, I'll spare y'all the rest hahaha.

Questions: Any STMs/TTMs dealing with or have dealt with a difficult season with your first kid during pregnancy? I was up at 2AM googling "how to make sure dealing with my 1st kid doesn't send me into preterm labor"  :D

OH man, I love fall/halloween. All of my favorite memories involved my grandmother making my costumes, doing "trunk or treat" at our church, and going to the pumpkin patch on field trips at school. Now I'm getting to do all the fun halloween activities with my kiddo and can't wait for baby sister to be here so I can experience it with her too!

How are you feeling?: Mostly ok, but two big complaints: As of a couple of weeks ago I started getting muscle cramps in my glutes when I sleep! I assume they're for the same reason that people get calf cramps, but they're SO uncomfortable. I end up constantly rolling from one side to the other all night to give each side relief. I do think exercise helps. It's been hard to do this week, as I'm visiting my husband's family and it's super hot outside, but since I realized that, I'm going to try to get in walks every day anyway. And two, I have a really weird sensitive spot on one side of my ribs. It started a couple of months ago and feels like something with my nerves - nothing is visible but the spot varies between tingling and full on burning/itching. It's right where my bra hits, too. I'm going to bring it up with my doc in my next visit but I'm basically out of town until then anyway, so I just need to wait it out.

Rants/Raves: We had our baby shower which was fun, but I did get coerced into being blindfolded and tasting baby food 😅 thankfully it wasn't too gross. And thankfully I don't have any major food aversions!

    Questions: natm

GTKY: Tell us about a one of your favorite Halloween (or fall) memories. I always liked Halloween but I haven't done anything for it in years, and it kind of fell by the wayside after college. In 5th grade my costume was a watchdog - inspired by The Phantom Tollbooth, for any of you who've read it. I painted my face like a dog and wore a clock face on my front.

@jojosesame I feel the same way about kicks. Some days I literally feel like he's doing somersaults in there and other days I panic because I can't remember if I've felt him. And I'm already dealing with hypertension so then my anxiety about counting kicks just makes everything worse. I really don't know where the balance is, like we don't want to be constantly panicking but at the same time want to know everything is okay.

  • @tpwkalyn currently dealing with a 20 month old who skipped her nap at daycare the last 2 days and didn't go to sleep till 11:15pm Tuesday night.  I'm pretty sure it's teething because she has been super fussy, chewing on things and putting her hands in her mouth a lot.  Oh and the mood swings/attitude are in full effect.  She has also been super clingy which is getting difficult because my back starts hurting after holding her for just short periods of time or if I'm sitting down she wants to climb on me like a jungle gym.  I don't have any advice, just solidarity.

How are you feeling?:  Rough 😞 I have a wretched cough that’s been with me for over a week, that has me keeled over gagging at night from coughing. The more I talk the worse it is, and being a therapist does NOT help with that. I’ve been spoiled with a super smooth pregnancy until now and I’m really struggling with this. It’s tough emotionally, too, because I’m anxious how such aggressive coughing and having less of an appetite could harm my baby girl and I’ve become paranoid about her kicks.

Rants/Raves: thankfully my husband is being super patient and helping a ton with household duties and meals. I really don’t know what I would do without him.

Questions: anybody else have a history of asthma? How has it been during pregnancy and/or how have you managed (hoping to get a new inhaler tomorrow!!)

its not my favorite holiday historically but I’ve come to love having trick or treaters come by to visit our house and hand out candy with my dog and husband. We dress my dog up as an apple since his name is Braeburn ☺️ I can’t wait to enjoy this holiday more with a little one

Upcoming Appointments: I just met with my new MFM doctor yesterday since our move. They did another comprehensive targeted anatomy exam since it's their first time seeing me. They wanted to check for themselves instead of relying just on the notes from the MFM doctors I saw in Honolulu. Everything still within normal range. My next appointment is is during week 31 (11/7) for a routine monthly OB check-in. I'll then meet w/ the OB every 2 weeks, until Week 36 where I'll meet w/ both OB and MFM once a week until I give birth. I also hired a doula and had my first meeting with her. I have two more virtual and 1 in-person, all in the month of November before I give birth (and then one post-natal). I am also considering seeing a chiropractor that is specifically trained to work w/ pregnant women to prepare them for birth. I at first was going to do a massage therapist, but after talking to my doula, I think I need to address more of the hip/pelvic pain that I felt about 2 months ago. It's gone (I did a lot of walking, stretching, mental health, etc.) and my body adjusted, but I wanted to work w/ a professional to help me prepare my body regardless. Also, if you plan or are open to getting an epidural (I am haha), pain management medicine won't cover things like sciatica or hip pain, so best to work on those now!

Finally, I know these are not an appointments, but my husband and I are taking a few classes together. Some from the hospital I'll be delivering at (Infant Skills, Baby's First Year, What To Expect When Delivering a Baby at VHC) and a weekend-long lamaze-style community class (4 other parents-to-be in the class). All will be in the month of November! All of these + two baby showers will make November a busy pregnancy month for us, while we continue to unpack, clean, organize and prep our new home in our new city to a decent spot (won't be fully "dressed" for baby, but close!).

How are you feeling?: Overall pretty good - we got worried a bit with some numbers on that came back from the 3rd tri anatomy scan, but our MFM helped reassure us that everything is normal and w/in range for baby's development. Other than that, I started to get tired during the day again when 3rd tri hit - - some days I need a 30-45 minute nap! My back is also starting to feel really tight as my belly grows.

    Rants/Raves:

    Questions: NATM

GTKY: Tell us about a one of your favorite Halloween (or fall) memories.  Some example prompts: Best or worst costume, pumpkin carving, apple picking, favorite candy or treat you only get this time of year, etc. When I was really little, my family would carve pumpkins (I sucked at it but the effort counted haha) - and I loved how my mom would bake the pumpkin seeds after. I remember trick or tricking around my parents neighborhood and there was always a house that had two dentists - instead of candy, they would give out packages of free dental products (tooth brush, tooth paste, floss) lol
  • @jojosesame I honestly haven't done any formal kick counting - I started to try to do it but it just gave me unnecessary anxiety and stress. Neither my OB, MFM, or doula has told me to do kick counting. They just ask - do you feel baby move? haha. I know his general timing of when he moves and tune in when he does, but I don't follow the kick counting to a T. I do feel the same, though, some days I feel like he's in a boxing match in there (this morning) and other days, I feel like he's mellow and I wonder, should I be concerned, so I'll try and pay more attention the following day to his movement. I wonder if perhaps we both have anterior placenta, why we don't feel the "big movements". There were maybe two kicks or movements that I felt like Wow, that was a big one, but most of the time I feel like they are subtle, so I wonder if he should be moving more or have "stronger" movements. But then the tech who did my fetal scan yesterday, she said "wow that was a big kick" when he kicked, and I didn't feel like it was a big one - - so maybe we don't know what we don't know since it's our first time going through it, and hopefully everything is still normal and ok!
  • @fk18 I was not prepared for the cuteness!!
  • @kamays54, I couldn’t help it!! He’s still the baby of the family for 3 more months 😂
  • @fk18 his little face is perfect 🥹
