35-36 weeks, air travel more than 10 hours

Hello mommies, first time mom here. I have a planned business trip from Asia to Europe during my 35th week (34 weeks and 5 days, returning on my 35 weeks 5 days). Will be travelling on a business class, but I still worry about the long duration, there is no direct flight so I'll have 1 connection, in total 19nhours of travel incl. the 3-hour layover. Has anyone tried that and would you recommend that? I got a go signal from my doctor.

  • It's really down to how you feel. If you're happy and your doctor is happy there isn't too many reasons not to go.

On the flight you'll need some compression socks and you'll have to get up and move around every hour or so, to reduce the risk of blood clots. But being in business class that should be easier.

My main concern would be if the baby were to come early. It's not likely but it does happen. You should take your notes with you and make sure that you have insurance to cover you, just incase.

  • I second @cornichonmam. If you and your doctor are comfortable, just make sure you have your medical records of the pregnancy with you and have an insurance that would cover medical expenses just in case. It's unlikely for baby to come that early, but better be safe than sorry. Have fun on your business trip!

Just did 5 hours to Hawaii at 33 weeks and I was miserable. I vomited, had horrid backaches and just couldn’t get comfortable. Baby was okay and everything but I felt like crap. Not looking forward to the flight back though the trip has been 100% worth it so far.
And for the record, I travel all the time. Just did California to Crete, to Barcelona, and back at 25 weeks and I was 100% fine. Something about this third trimester! Yeesh!
