Halloween Costumes 🎃

What are you dressing up as? Doing anything special to incorporate the bump? For those with human and/or fur babies, feel free to share what they’ll be for the holiday, too.
It’s fun to think that our birth month begins the day after Halloween 🤯

Re: Halloween Costumes 🎃

  • We went to Mickey’s not so Scary Halloween Party at Disney World last weekend and I dressed as Padme from Star Wars when she is pregnant with Luke & Leia. I am a teacher so I will probably dress in Halloween flair all that week :) for an official costume, I’m leaning toward Barbie Miley on a wrecking ball. I saw it online and think it’s just hilarious.

  • I grew up in a religious household so Halloween wasn't allowed to have anything scary or devil related etc. I never had a 'scary' costume in my life but this year I saw a post where someone glued doll arms and a leg to a shirt with some blood to look like baby is escaping through the belly and I thought it was hilarious. I don't know if I'm brave enough to do it tho.

I also saw women dressing up as Thor when he's given up and has that beer belly last year. Gives me an excuse to have my belly out and go to work in pyjamas lol. Especially with Halloween being my last day in the office.
  • First of all, so JEALOUS of your Disney trip @mamahen521!! And your costume sounds rad. I’m thoroughly impressed at the creativity and on-brandness of it!

Sounds like you and I had similar upbringings @mitchip. As a kid, we were at church for a “Night Without Fright” on Halloween. Didn’t do my first real dress up and going out until college. Being ultra-scary and morbid when it comes to pregnancy seems real off putting to me overall, so definitely steering away from gore and all that for sure.

I’ve got 3 kids, 9yo son, and a 7 and 5yo daughter so thinking about being The Simpsons. My husband is 6’4’’ and lean so will make a perfect Marge while I can be Homer with my belly out and everything 🤣 Only problem is they have that distinct yellow skin and the kids have pointy hair and idk how to do it so worried the whole thing will just be confusing. Option B is we all dress up as Mario characters (I’d be Bowser because he’s round) or we all go as Barbie characters (I’d be pregnant Barbie, obviously). Ugh, this is so hard!

  • I have a NASA astronaut jumpsuit from my son’s second Halloween that now fits my daughter, so I was thinking she could be an astronaut, my son could be an alien and I can be a… planet. lol. My H has to work (he always works Halloween).

But honestly I might just skip it. I’m too tired. My son doesn’t have a concept of Halloween or holidays and my daughter is too little. I grew up in Norway where it wasn’t a thing so it doesn’t really have any significance to me either. My neighborhood doesn’t have any decorations or trick or treaters anyway!

  • @MrsCaliRN I like the simpsons idea but the Mario idea is super cute and there's so many characters to choose from!  Do you make your costumes?

    @etnyah that's a really cute idea too!
  • my 5 year old daughter and I are being carebears!
  • @mitchip I might try and make the Marge and Lisa dresses myself since they’re basically just sheaths of cloth. But otherwise, definitely not! I’m in awe of folks who DIY their costumes!

@etnyah That brings back memories. My youngest, who is now 5 yo, was an astronaut when she was like 20 months old. She was completely oblivious to what was going on and I still have pics of how cute she looked. The planet idea is awesome! I’m feeling like I have my own gravitational pull these days 😂 But you’re smart not to overextend yourself at this point. There’s always next year.

  • These are all such amazing ideas! We are going to have some fabulously decked out bumps at the end of the month!
  • I am pretty bummed about Halloween. I wanted to paint my belly to look like a basketball and wear a WNBA jersey. But now I’m doing insulin injections 4x a day in my belly so that’s not really feasible. :(
  • @jessicaupstateny I’m sorry to hear about the insulin injections ruining your belly paint plans. What about decorating an orange shirt to look like a basketball and wearing it under the jersey? Then you still get to paint, it’s just on a shirt so it won’t mess with your readings.
  • @jessicaupstateny Yeah that is a bummer. If the issue is painting over the open wounds/injection sites then maybe you could apply a flesh-colored bandage and paint over that? If the issue is being able to inject yourself while painted up, you should be able to inject in the thigh (maybe double check with your DM specialist to be sure though). Otherwise, @mamahen521’s idea is a good one! I love your costume idea- this is the year for WNBA- and it would be so cool to do it.
