  • I could really use some beverage recommendations! I’ve been trying to stay hydrated with ice water but lately I’ve been craving juice and sweetened teas. Like, cranberry juice. Tart and sweet and refreshing. But I really don’t want to overdo my sugar intake! I don’t love sugar substitutes either, so - any recommendations?

  • @strongishmom, I totally get that craving! A couple months back, @kendyb77 brought up the TJ strawberry drinks and it blew my mind because I love these! They have no added sugar and the perfect amount of sweetness for a treat:

  • Cravings: fresh squeezed orange juice, plums, avo toast with a fried egg on sourdough, homemade granola with dried cherries on vanilla Icelandic yogurt, pizza

    Aversions: hot beverages, coffee

    Current beverage of choice: the coldest ice water on the planet and lemonade (I do half water and half lemonade - so refreshing!)

    Any good recipes to share: hmmmm need to think about this one. I love this chicken schnitzel with lemon orzo with a big handful of arugula topped with lemon, olive oil and salt/pepper - amazing!
  • They have started making zero sugar juice. Minute Maid makes some. You can also buy no sugar added juice and lemonade. 
  • I was not really a sweets person for a good 4-5 or so years before getting pregnant. I’m now craving chocolate chip pancakes. Ha! I also still love drinking milk.
  • I so agree with the sweets thing...was never really a big sweets person until these babies came along and now I'm craving allll the things. So weird and interesting!
  • YUP. Sweets and I also have uncovered a beef craving - I’ve never been a big meat eater, yet here we are haha 
  • That’s so funny, I normally have a huge sweet tooth but I’ve been drawn mostly to salty and savory things during pregnancy! 
  • With both my pregnancies I had to have something sweet after dinner almost every night.  When I'm not pregnant I enjoy sweets every once in a while but am typically drawn to salty snacks/treats.

    I don't know if it's true or not but I heard a long time ago that pregnancy cravings are your bodies way of getting something that it's "missing".  That's why some women develop Pica.
  • I found my food aversion.  It's weirdly specific lol.  Apple skins.  Not the whole apple, just the skin.  At first I thought it was just the type of apple I bought but I just bit into a different one and same thing.  They just taste weird/off.  The actual apple tastes fine though.  I bought 2 of the first one I had and I told my husband he could cut it up for our daughter.  He cut the skin off and cut it up for her and gave me a piece.  I didn't even realize it was the same apple.
  • I made my first ever loaf of sourdough the other day and omg it hit the spot. Now I'm obsessed. haha
