Baby furniture shopping IN PERSON

As a little girl, I always loved going to Babies R Us to look at the furniture and rockers.  Then when my friends were expecting, Buy Buy Baby was an option.  Now it's my turn, and I cannot find any baby stores that sell furniture and an assortment of rockers to try out.  Any stores you know of that have these options?

TIA

Re: Baby furniture shopping IN PERSON

  • Toys R us and IKEA. I recently went to IKEA and they have amazing nursery ideas. How soon is it too soon to start shopping? I also want to start 😂

  • We don't have a toys r us near us either :( I didn't think of ikea though
  • You might get lucky with some heavy digging to find a mom and pop ish sort of shop? I'm in Philly and in the burbs there is a place called "baby supermart" that has soooo many nursery sets and recliner gliders to check out. Other than that, I haven't seen much else. Grateful someone told us about it. I'd suggesr maybe use the neighborhood app or even Reddit to ask moms in your area/community/neighborhood where they were able to view stuff in person?
  • I'm in the same situation over here! No more Baby stores within a reasonable commute. I wanted to try out a few strollers to see what works for us and what doesn't, but I think we're going to have to do a lot of research and trust reviews.
  • I know I mentioned this somewhere before but someone in my last BMB told us about Baby Bargains.  They review baby products (and much more).  They pay for all the products that they review so they aren't getting paid for their review and they also gather reviews from others to let you know the most common issues.  Here is a link to the website (specifically to their stroller reviews): https://www.babybargains.com/category/the-best-strollers/
  • I’ve also heard good things about Lucie’s List for gear guides! https://www.lucieslist.com/

We got lucky with a secondhand stroller, and I’ve just taken my friends’ advice for most things, but the one thing we haven’t figured out yet is a glider chair. I really want to test those out first. We’re going to try IKEA and Pottery Barn Kids - those might be the only options around here though.
  • Some Crate and Barrel locations have Crate and Kids furniture. Call your local store and they can tell you if there are any nearby stores that carry nursery items.
  • Ive gotten a lot of our furniture from Ikea. Rocking chairs are so expensive so we got a Poeng chair from ikea and it does the job. Then a crib, baby bath tub and a dresser. Oh and i borrowed a bedside crib from a cousin. Other than that, babies dont need all that much furniture wise. We ordered a stroller from a norwegian site. Neither of my babies liked the baby swing. Ive spent the most money on baby carriers probably😂 mainly because i have to pay import fees on top of shipping from the US🤪
