Hi all, trying to be more present and not a lurker. My first BMB F19 is still a daily source of friendship and as it's been a minute since our last N20, I'm seriously forgetting all things pregnancy and newborn lol

    Same!! I’ve been MIA this week with all our car troubles and shopping for a new car (it’s exhausting and expensive). And so much to consider since we have a car-jacking problem in Canada (🙄🙄🙄) so that’s now a new fear, lol!!! But car thefts are going down and we have a plan on how to help us. 

    Anyone bring their littles to school the past week (or before)? DD just had her first week of Junior Kindergarten and I’m so proud of her 🥹

    DS is trying to leave me behind at the car but I’m not letting him get away with that and I’m still walking him to the front door and getting my hug before he goes in. Unfortunately, you never know what can happen. He started August 26.

    @dunder_mifflin yikes! What are you looking to get? We started looking in fall '22 and it took us forever to find what we wanted. And now we are in the mini van club that we swore we would never belong to 😆

    DS just started kindergarten a couple weeks ago and is absolutely loving it. But he's been an emotional not listening mess at home so that's been fun

    @ksd20 i honestly would go minivan, it just won’t fit in our garage :( we are in a townhouse in Toronto parking so we are lucky to even have a garage. I am team Toyota, we got lucky and found a hybrid Highlander that’s unclaimed coming the end of the month (usually a 12-18 month wait), so we put a deposit to hold. But it’s one of the highest thefted cars 😭 so we tried a Mazda cx-90 plug-in hybrid and it was a great ride! Felt a bit more luxe. Just more expensive and also not as reliable since we want a vehicle for the next 10-15 years (our current car is 20 years old hahaha). So, we will probably go with the Highlander and get the boujie insurance and hope for the best with some after-market products. I’m jealous of your minivan though!! They look amazing!! 

    Okay, DD has also not been listening and misbehaving like crazy, so defiant and arguing over everything. Im in the same boat!!! We just consequenced her by taking her princess peach Halloween costume and she has to earn it back with good behaviour. This was after trying to be flexible, meet her halfway, trying to be understanding that there’s all this change for her, etc. But H and I finally had enough since she argued and threw a fit over every “no.” And we are very fair/attuned parents that can be flexible but hold firm boundaries. Sometimes I wish I was just permissive, my life would be easier lol. 

    It happens every half-birthday, she goes Bananas mid-September. We had to take her Elsa costume away lasy Halloween as well when she was 3.5 and it had to be earned back with good behaviour and sticker charts 😂 for the record, she has been a peach since the consequence, so we will see how she does by Friday.

    @fininevermore oh my heart, Norah asked me to leave her and her friend crafting and talking to a cooler, younger aunt. “Mama, can you go hang out inside?” 😭 i understand how you’re feeling

    My car broke down! 😭 It was absolutely pissing coolant everywhere, and of course I didn’t notice because I never look under my car, so my engine almost overheated. Thank goodness my car has a safety feature that turns down the engine power if it’s too hot, so now it’s in the shop and I’m out a car. The shop couldn’t find the leak yesterday so they’re yanking out my engine today to see if it’s behind it. I’ve had to cancel an out of state birthday party and I don’t know how I’m getting to work Monday.

    @fininevermore okay this literally happened to me last week!!! No word of a lie. I had to pull over at a Walmart parking lot on the way to the mechanic because my engine was overheating 😭 and these two lovely older gentlemen were so helpful. I let it cool down and drove super slow to the mechanic 5 min away (who is my cousin, thankfully!).

    I hope they fix it for you soon, I was also leaking red coolant everywhere, it was like a faucet. I feel like so many people I know are having car troubles, getting new cars, etc. so hopefully it’s fixed soon for you 😊

    I’m sorry you missed a birthday party!! Do you have someone to give you a ride? Or can you rent a car/uber for the time being? Still so frustrating. I find car seats make it all more complicated

    @dunder_mifflin DH and I will be down to one car. It’s almost nostalgic, like the time I got T-boned 2 years ago. At least this time I don’t have to wake up DS and make him come with us. He can sleep till after I get back. My only complaint (other than having to get out of bed before 6am) is that he has a sedan and I have an SUV. Sedans are harder on my SPD than SUVs so I’m in for a rather painful time until mine is fixed.

    We did a private ultrasound yesterday at 14w3d because I was impatient and hadn’t seen our LO since my 8 week scan. It was wild to see the difference and how much he is moving around! That should hold me over now until the anatomy scan  :D

    @cortneylynnn aw that’s so cute! Do you not have a standard 12.5-13.5 weeks scan? Either way, I’m happy you got one 🥹

    We just got our NIPT results!! Everything is low risk, which is a relief. 

    And we found out we are having another girl 💕🥹 we are so absolutely excited and DD is thrilled! We called my family over and told them all, they are also so excited since we are such a girl family, lol. H is relieved. I’m mostly relieved the baby looks healthy so far.

    I swear to god, the baby kicked me today. I felt this constant pain for several minutes just to the right of my belly button, and when I put my hand there, I felt a hard lump!

    @fininevermore I think I’ve been feeling kicking or movement too! But was second guessing myself lol. Yesterday my DH thinks he felt it too!

    @dunder_mifflin Nope! Same with my first too. Since I have no risk factors, aside from my age they don't deem it necessary to do any ultrasounds other than the first confirmation/dating one at 8 weeks and then the anatomy scan at 20w! My appointments between are just doppler visits. It makes for a long 12 weeks! 

    Congrats on your girl and so happy to hear everything is low risk!!

    I feel like I’ve felt flutters all week. I try and poke to see if I get kick back and it hasn’t happened yet, so still not convinced lol.

    Has anyone ever had the blood test for spina bifida done on previous pregnancies? Or already done it this time around? I just had my blood drawn for it today and just wondering what to expect since I definitely didn't do it with my last.

    @cortneylynnn, I just had mine done last week! I got my blood draw on Tuesday and got the results on Thursday! So super fast. Everything came back normal/negative. My friend had a positive result with her second and freaked out for a week or two until they reran the blood test and did some extra testing to find out everything was fine! So errors do happen but hopefully you just get a quick normal result!

    @paigemm23 yay so happy for your all normal results! Fingers crossed mine come back quickly and are also normal! I wasn’t sure what the false positive rates were for it, I know some tests it’s easier to get a false positive than others. Hopefully I don’t have to worry about it!

    Update! The spina bifida test results came back all normal. Aside from that we were hit by Hurricane Helene last night. My husband is a Deputy and was working all night on the boats rescuing people from houses while I held down the fort at home. Our beaches and coastal areas are destroyed. Thankfully no major damage at our house, just some down trees.
