Hi, has anyone ever experienced Absence Seizures with a younger child. I know most websites say the typical age is 4 years but my lo is 18 months and the dr suggested it as a possibility. She has a neurology appt soon. I am trying to keeo a record for the dr appt but I am having a hard time telling the difference between normal staring and an absence seizures.
Re: Absence Seizures
Look for signs such as a sudden blank stare that lasts for about 10-20 seconds, along with any unusual behaviors before or after the staring episodes. You might also notice that your child doesn’t respond during the episode but resumes normal activity afterward, which is characteristic of absence seizures.
Consider using a notebook or an app to track these episodes—note their duration, frequency, and any accompanying behaviors. This information will provide valuable insights for the doctor during your appointment.
You're taking proactive steps by seeking information and preparing for your upcoming visit, which is crucial in ensuring you get the best care possible for your little one. If you have further concerns or questions before the appointment, don't hesitate to reach out to healthcare professionals who can guide you through this process. You're not alone in this!
