Insomnia and fertility?

Hi! Did any of you experience insomnia and had no issues conceiving? We got pregnant on our first try with our first but I’ve developed some post partum insomnia after birth and am afraid it’ll affect my chances of getting pregnant the second time around. Any insight would be appreciated :)

Re: Insomnia and fertility?

  • It is very important to understand that insomnia is not harmful to your child. Insomnia during pregnancy is normal and affects approx 78% of pregnant women. It's normal to have trouble sleeping at a point during pregnancy, but some expectant women experience insomnia starting in the 2 to 3 trimesters, as other pregnancy signs increase and a burgeoning baby belly makes it harder than ever to get comfortable in bed.

  • Many women experience sleep disturbances postpartum, but it's important to know that insomnia doesn't necessarily affect fertility. Your body is resilient, and many factors contribute to conception beyond sleep patterns.

It's also worth considering that managing your sleep and stress levels can create a more favorable environment for conception. Consulting with a healthcare professional can provide personalized advice and strategies tailored to your situation. Remember, each journey is unique, and staying informed will empower you in this process. If you have any more questions or need support, feel free to reach out!  <3
