Feeling the first baby kicks

Anyone feeling the first little kicks? It usually feels like a flutter of butterfly wings tapping around inside for me. I felt it at 15 weeks with my first. Waiting to feel it with my second. I’m getting excited because this is when pregnancy feels real for me! :)

Re: Feeling the first baby kicks

  • I felt flutters with my first around 18 weeks. With my second, around 16 weeks. I'm hoping I will feel this one soon! The little flutters are amazing!

  • 16 weeks today! Waiting for the flutters…
  • I’m 16 weeks tomorrow and still waiting too, I felt a little something earlier this week but not 100% on it..even as a STM 😂
  • I am 99% sure I felt a few swift flutters as I lay down in bed to rest yesterday evening. It lasted a few minutes.  It was surreal and I’m hoping it happens again tonight!
  • I'm 16 weeks as of Thursday and I'm pretty sure I have felt them sporadically since last week, especially after I eat something or if I'm laying still.
  • I’m 17.5 weeks and have been feeling flutters! My husband put his hand on my belly and felt 2 distinct taps. Not sure if it was baby but it sure seemed like it! So exciting!
  • So exciting! I’m 17.5 weeks and nothing yet. Can’t wait! 💖
  • Starting to feel little kicks and wiggles! 16 weeks yesterday. I didn’t feel anything definite until 18 weeks with my first. I love this stage 💕
  • I felt some flutters and muscle spasm like movements today for about 1m..it was awesome! I’m 18 + 2 with my first..I loved it.
  • I felt the first flutters around 18 weeks.  This is my first pregnancy and it took me a little bit to recognize that's what it was.  To me it mostly feels like bubbles popping low down in my abdomen.  Now I'm partway into 19 weeks and it's gotten a little more frequent and recognizable, but still faint.  I can't wait until the kicks get stronger so I don't have to always stop and evaluate the feelings.

I agree the pregnancy doesn't even feel real until you can feel the baby moving.  I have had about 7 ultrasounds already and I constantly find myself wondering if there's really a baby in there or not!
  • 17 weeks and 3 days now, but uncertain if what I've been feeling is the baby moving. First time Mom, so I don't know what it should feel like yet. Excited for the day I know for certain  :)
  • 19w1D with my first and i don’t think i’ve felt any kicks/flutters yet. It’s starting to give me some anxiety. I have my 20 week appt next Monday and Anatomy scan next Wednesday. Anyone else in a similar boat?
  • @caboorman96 yup same here. At an earlier US I was told I had an anterior placenta which isn't a problem but does make it harder to feel early movement because the placenta is between the stomach and the baby vs being behind/on the side. Or something like that.. I'm sure you'll have peace of mind at your appts next week!
  • I’m 20 weeks today and the kicks are very strong starting at around 9pm when I’m relaxing. Baby has a posterior placenta, so it’s easier to feel her little kicks throughout the night. I actually saw my tummy move from some of the strong kicks last night. It was so fun to see. Baby’s anatomy scan is tomorrow!
  • Felt my first definitive movements at 15w+6 (second child).  I’m 19W+3 now and while they are definitely inconsistent they are getting stronger. I can even sometimes feel them from the outside already! I think he’s going to be a big guy.
  • I'm at 19w and a FTM. I think I felt the first flutters last week, but I'm not sure. I feel those same bubbles very randomly. Not at the same time or even every day. Am I feeling baby or just gas? Anyone else have very irregular flutters?
  • @gam061723 those early flutters were never consistent for me. I really only felt them in quiet, still moments. Even as they turned into bigger kicks, there was a lot of inconsistency. I'm currently almost 22 weeks, and I'm starting to notice patterns.
  • I never felt flutters this pregnancy. Just straight to kicks. I can't believe how strong this baby feels already.
