T2D Diabetic before becoming pregnant. Dexcom?

Hello. Like the title says, I had T2D before pregnancy. My OB has requested I check my blood sugar 4x a day. I absolutely cannot get myself to prick my finger that many times. My doctor requested for a Dexcom. Anyone have any luck of get insurance to pay for a Dexcom?

  • Yes! I had pre existing diabetes as well and went back to testing 4x a day and my fingers were so bruised. I asked my diabetes educator about a Dexcom and it was approved, most likely because the mfm requested it. I think it also helped that I was to a point where being able to see the trends was more beneficial than a single number (I think it was ~16 weeks.) Good luck!

  • I have the Libre 3, but I did get mine approved for the same reasons. I was only diagnosed with DM2 back in about March and became pregnant in May. My OB was talking about checking glucose 4 times a day and my fingers were already so bruised from the few times I did check it.

I got my continuous monitor approved and I really prefer being able to watch the data trends all day. It's worth having if you can get it.
