Watchful Waiting - Missed Miscarriage

We went to first OB appt 8/28 for baby #2, 9w0d.  US showed no cardiac activity and was only measuring 6w3d.  hCG levels were drawn  8/28 and again 8/30 dropping around 13,300 after 48 hours.  We are now what the CMW called “watchful waiting”. We have another appt schedule for 9/12 that if I have not had any signs of miscarriage we will discuss the next steps: medicine or DNC.  It has only been a few days since getting this devastating news and I am mentally not ok.  The idea of waiting around until my body decides to “expel” my baby I just can’t handle.

    I’m so sorry that you are going through this. I just had my 4th (1 Mmc and 2 chemical). Since this one was my 4th they scheduled a d&c within 2 days of the heart stopping. Did they offer you medication or a d&c? I technically had to wait a little bit for this one because the heartbeat hadn’t stopped right away (just slowed). It is absolutely agonizing having to wait especially while feeling pregnant and knowing you don’t get the happy ending. I just want you to know you are not alone and the dread and agony of waiting will pass. But my thoughts are with you and if you need to talk or vent I’m available and understand

    Going through same thing right now went to an ultrasound today and was told no heartbeat. I thought I was 13 weeks 4 days but measured 11 weeks 5 days so the loss happened almost 2 weeks ago. Very sad situation I have gone through before a few times. So it hurts but I always expect something to go wrong now and am hyper vigilant I knew when I saw the technicians face what was wrong immediately. My poor husband has never experienced this and is taking it hard. I am scheduling surgery tomorrow as I have waited and ended up with a massive hemorrhage before and I don’t want to go that route. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

    Thank you both, I am so sorry for your losses too.  I cannot imagine going thru this again.  I believe that have gone thru the blunt of this. Monday 9/9 I woke with severe pain with lots of bleeding (just felt like gushes coming out). I ended up just staying on the toilet for probably an hr and half.  During that time I kept having severe cramps that seemed like they were every 2 minutes. I passed 2 clots that were significant size then followed by a really large one and another.  After that the pain subsided,  my poor husband felt completely useless… he kept asking what he could do and I just told him there isn’t anything I was in so much pain there was anything to do.  I am supposed to have a follow up on Friday 9/13 to confirm there is no tissue left over.  I keep thinking why would they just let women go thru that and multiple times.  I wish I would have known more of the process and asked for the D&C once we confirmed drops in the hCG levels and when I first started bleeding.

    So sorry for all you are going through. I also had a missed miscarriage and eventually a d&c. If it’s any consolation, we conceived faster after the D&C than the original pregnancy. Doctor said that is common.
