    FTM/STM/TTM+: STM

Baby is the size of a (an): Coconut

    Team blue/pink/green: Blue

Upcoming Appointments: 9/20 for a limited US and glucose test.  I failed the 1hr test with my first and had to do the 3hr one.  Thankfully I passed that one.  I think I failed the 1hr one because of what I ate before so this time I chose an early appointment and will eat after.

How are you feeling?: Right now, tired!  I had a hard time getting to sleep last night.  I think the insomnia is slowly starting.  Overall, good.  I have noticed that I have been getting winded easier lately which is making certain tasks harder.

Rants/Raves: Maybe a rave - I think I saw my stomach move the other day when he was moving around a lot but I'm not sure and I haven't seen it happen again.  At least not yet.  Since my first's placenta was anterior I didn't feel her until later and when other's could feel her it was really light (for a long time my husband swore he couldn't feel anything and it was just me breathing lol) I also tried to film her moving and you can barely see anything happen.  I'm hoping this time it's a lot more prominent.

    Questions: natm

GTKY: Is it easy for you to accept help from people?  Yes and no.  I'm fine with people helping but there have been times when my husband will say to me, "why didn't you just ask for help?"  Part of it is because I have always been a very independent person and I know I CAN do it but of course it would have been nice to have the help.  I just don't ask for it if I know I can do it even if it makes it harder.  If that make sense.

How are you feeling?: Feeling good! Also feeling huge lol January feels a million years away. Been having occasional round ligament pain which has been suuuper painful. Getting a belly band has helped with that immensely.

Rants/Raves: Was really anxious last week because I had been feeling the babies every other day or so and then didn't feel them move for over a week. Finally felt movement again from both of them yesterday and literally cried from relief. Pregnancy is such a mind game on top of all the physical challenges... 🙃

Questions: Anyone in here self employed and have maternity leave plans you'd be willing to share? Figuring out how long of a leave to take/is really necessary.

GTKY: Is it easy for you to accept help from people?
I'd say generally yes. Fairly easy to accept when it's offered, definitely harder to ask when it's not, I can be kind of a tough it out type personality at times. Our church offers a meal train for new parents that we are 500% on board with, and my mom gets a couple weeks of family care time off and offered to come help, which was also an easy yes. Especially as a FTM, also with there being 2 babies in the equation...Thankful for our people!!

Baby is the size of a (an): banana today, endive tomorrow!

    Team blue/pink/green: blue

Upcoming Appointments: not for a month

How are you feeling?: my congestion has been acting up the past few days, and I'm often out of breath from the smallest things, but otherwise ok!

Rants/Raves: We are deep into decision-making and I already have decision fatigue. We spent literal hours yesterday trying to figure out which infant car seat would fit the secondhand stroller we got (we did eventually figure it out). Next up is daycares - heads up, I've heard that you need to start looking now if you want to start daycare when baby is 3 months old, and to expect to be on a bunch of waitlists. Can't wait (/sarcasm). But I've tapped into the local moms facebook group and that has been super helpful for recommendations!

    Questions: natm

GTKY: Is it easy for you to accept help from people? Yes, if offered, but I have a hard time asking. (@kamays54 you always have such great prompts!)
  • @kendyb77 That's awesome that you are going to have that help!

And the movement is hard at this point.  It's amazing when you feel it but it's still not consistent which causes the worry/panic until you feel it again.  I have had moments like that.  It's especially hard if something happens (big or small).  You worry, panic, and feel like it's your fault.  Then you feel them again and get that reassurance.  I have to try and remind myself in those kinds of moments that they are much more resilient than we realize.  When I was pregnant with my daughter, I was in a minor car accident, our medium-size dog jumped over the couch onto my stomach, and the pharmacy mixed up another similar looking medication with my blood pressure medication.  I'm not sure if I ended up taking any of the other medication but I realized a few days after I had been taking meds from that bottle.  All of this to say, she is perfectly healthy.  But after each of those incidents, it was pure worry and panic until I felt her again.
  • @strongishmom Thanks!  I'm trying to mix some fun questions with some deeper questions.  I know that when these babies are born it's going to be tough in the beginning.  I was not great at asking for help after my first was born so this time I am going to try to be more mindful of that and ask when I really need it.

Also, if anyone else has any GTKY questions they think would be fun or interesting let me know.  You can send me a message and I can include it in one of these.

How are you feeling?: Pretty tired but not experiencing any other pains luckily.

    Rants/Raves: NATM

Questions: How far along is everyone with doing a registry if you are doing one? I feel behind the ball because I want to be done “nesting” before the 3rd trimester and ours is not done at all.

GTKY: Is it easy for you to accept help from people? Generally yes, but it depends on who is offering!
  • @kendyb77 I’m also self employed and was just planning on taking a week off completely then doing minimal work for the first two months (basically just answering messages). My hubby gets two months through his work and both our parents will likely come help so I’m not sure I’ll need to take full leave but that’s the plan. What are you thinking you will do?
  • @lovelylittlebump Still figuring it out. My work is client based and remote, and all my clients know I'm expecting and when I'm likely due, and that I'll be taking some form of maternity leave (but definitely planning on returning) and will be sharing that plan with them soon.

I'm thinking that I'm going to plan to take 6 weeks off, try to front load as much work as possible, and have a contractor friend in the same line of work who I can connect clients with if they need something urgent during that timeframe and I'm unavailable, who I can take more of a hands-off/supervisory role of, but need to confirm if/how that would work.

    Upcoming Appointments: 9/11 Anatomy Scan!

How are you feeling?: my energy seems to be leveling out and I’m able to get around to do more. I am experiencing a lot of pain in my right side that I believe is ligament related but I might get checked out just in case. It only seems to be happening when I move but ugh even walking can be painful.  FTM and nervous anxious mess.

Rants/Raves: anxiety and emotions are thru the roof some days!! I cried for 3 hours straight the other day and I think I cried about 6 different things during those 3 hours.

    Questions: natm

GTKY: Is it easy for you to accept help from people? I’d say I’d accept help when offered but always to scared to ask when I need it lol.

Baby is the size of a (an): ear of corn? hah

    Team blue/pink/green:  green

Upcoming Appointments: 3 ish weeks from now

How are you feeling?: Baby got some strong legs. The kicks really distract me, especially when I'm at work or trying to fall asleep. I still can't feel like I get enough sleep between the bathroom breaks and my arms falling asleep from laying on them.

Rants/Raves: Apparently you can drink too much water in pregnancy? First I've heard of it, but my doctor said I'm over hydrating which is also contributing to overactive bladder so I've tried to consciously reduce how much I'm drinking...

    Questions: natm

GTKY: Is it easy for you to accept help from people? Not ever. I'm such a strong headed first born girl child that I was always the one taking care of everyone else. I'd like to say I've learned and changed, but it takes time!

Rants/Raves: i have a goal for this year to use up my yarn and fabric stash. Ive been knitting like crazy and i think im obsessed😅 its just so fun!!! I need to start sewing though too! Im so excited im having a boy this time. I got rid if most of my baby stuff from my last two and now i can create a whole new wardrobe for this baby. I want most of it to be handmade😍

    Questions: not now

GTKY: Is it easy for you to accept help from people? Its easy-ish for me to accept help but super hard to ask for help!
  • @babywiik I'm so jealous!  I have bins of yarn and fabric sitting out in my garage.  I really just need to set aside some time at night and get back into it.

How are you feeling?: good!!! Still just very tired and ready for bed by 9pm every night, but aside from that I'm feeling great lately

Rants/Raves: we had the anatomy scan this morning and oh my lord 😭 what a relief to see that our baby is healthy and growing. Unfortunately he was very camera shy and kept covering his face up with one arm, but he looked adorable and seeing his little fingers and toes and heart beating made me so happy

    Questions: None right now

GTKY: Is it easy for you to accept help from people? Ehhh not really. If help is being offered I think I'm somewhat good at accepting it, but never good at asking for it.

How are you feeling?: my hormones have been all over the place this last week! Its been a ride. Physically, I feel pretty good. I am finally starting to feel her move and that's exciting! It took me a while to figure out what it feels like.

How are you feeling?:  awesome. The anatomy scan went great yesterday which was such a relief. there was one anomaly found -  postaxial polydactyly - basically she has an extra little pinky nubbin in her left hand that she inherited from her dad’s side of the family. While we will remove it for aesthetic reasons, it’s a cool little family trait.

    Rants/Raves: NATM

Questions: anybody started to talk about gestational diabetes testing with their OB/midwives? I just read about this and I’m curious if it’s routine and what it’s like.

GTKY: Is it easy for you to accept help from people?
It feels almost cultural for me to accept anything offered, so I would say yes. Like others have mentioned, I have a hard time ASKING for it. A great example is financial help. My parents are first generation wealthy and could definitely help us more (both of us in helping professions) but I can’t bring myself to ask. I guess staunch independence is a value of mine.
  • @lovelylittlebump, we’ve got most of our registry together but haven’t shared it yet as we wanted to wait until anatomy scan to do that. I think it’s smart you want to nest sooner rather than later! I’ll be honest that I didn’t spend as much time researching products as I could have. I factored in budget and a few helpful recommendation lists online (including the bump) and just threw the stuff on there that was essential haha
  • @fk18 I have my 1hr glucose test during my next appointment.  Hopefully I pass it this time.  Last time I didn't and had to take the 3hr one but thankfully passed that one.  I'm pretty sure it's standard but I'm high risk so I know they usually do extra testing.
  • @fk18 I know my glucose test is coming up but I can’t remember when, and I don’t know which type of test they do (I think there are a couple?). I’ve heard that it’s pretty common not to pass the first one, though. I’m not looking forward to it but hoping for the best!
  • @fk18 I had to do a fasting glucose test at my last apt (a week or so ago) because I'm new to my dr and she wanted to be absolutely sure where my levels were early on. She said she'd retest around 28-30 weeks to make sure I haven't developed GD
