If I hadn't had a c-section with my first I would be. So I'm going for a 2nd vbac which because of the extra risk feel better doing at the hospital though I'll be in the Midwife led unit this time.
I know a few people who've had homebirths and it was a great experience for them.
Not personally, but two of my friends have! They both almost ended up in the hospital after all but just skirted past (one hemorrhaged and the other had a retained placenta, but it worked out for both of them thankfully). They still think it was worth it though and would choose it again.
Home birth is definitely out of my comfort zone since I want an epidural, but it sounds like a great experience if you don’t want an epidural!

I wanted one but didn't get on with a midwife here, which is required. They are hard to come by in my area. Hubby was very against it because we're rural so if something DID go wrong, it's a long drive to the hospital.
@mitchip We were on the cusp of being too far. The midwives require you be closer than 30km from the hospital and we're just close enough. I had never really considered home birth before, but our town (strangely, as we're a normal town) has eight midwives and only one obgyn. Obviously I'm welcome to use the hospital, but I thought it'd be a neat opportunity if no complications arose. And the more I read about it, the more comfortable I'm feeling and happy that I'll just be home...
that's how I felt. medically speaking, I've had an uncomplicated pregnancy thus far, and I want to go as natural as my body lets me. I feel most relaxed in water, and very strongly wanted a water birth in my home but due to my age, it was recommended to be in hospital. *insert eyeroll lol.
We're delivering at a hospital that everyone says is so great. I did take a tour and the room is large. I don't know what qualifies a good birthing room tho lol. FTM!
I’m doing a home birth this time. I had my first two in the hospital, third was unmedicated water birth at a birth center. For my last baby I’ve decided I want to be at home. I live 3 minutes from a hospital though so if anything goes sideways, I’m close. I’m excited about it.
@doulamomaz Good luck. If you were at my hospital in the UK they would have recommended a homebirth for your second baby if you had a straightforward birth. I'm sure you'll do great. X
we are planning to deliver at the birth center with midwives, thankfully the center is a 3-minute drive from the hospital. Wasn’t quite ready for a home birth, but it’s essentially the same
That's exciting! I'm glad I'm not the only one, it's good that you'll both be close to the hospital. We're about 20min away, but am still feeling really good about it. I don't know too many moms who have, but they are mostly all positive experiences and I'd like to at least try.

Does your hospital have a good birthing room?
