Help! I think I accidentally ate some undercooked fried calamari!!

This is my first freak out. I am 15 weeks and went out to dinner last night. I ate about 5 small rings of tasty fried calamari before I thought, “hey, this looks undercooked”. My husband was of no help and continued to eat it. It was a little more transparent when compared to what I’m used to seeing. I see my OB in two days. I’m mostly concerned with Toxoplasmosis as it can be present in undercooked/raw meat and seafood, cat poop and soil. I feel fine otherwise but it isn’t always symptomatic. Someone talk me off a ledge.

  • Any updates from your OB? Hoping everything was ok and that it didn’t do any harm!

  • First, try not to panic if you suspect you may have inadvertently consumed undercooked fried calamari. Keep an eye out for symptoms of foodborne illness, which can manifest in a matter of hours to several days and include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, cramping in the stomach, and fever. Drink lots of water to stay hydrated, especially if you have diarrhea or vomiting. If you experience symptoms or feel ill, consult a healthcare provider for help. Based on your condition, they can offer advice. In order to assist avoid such issues in the future, think about reporting the situation to the restaurant or store if the calamari came from. You should be OK if you don't have any symptoms, but keep an eye out for any changes in your health.
  • I hope you are well. If you do experience such an unexpected problem, you should consult a doctor
  • Hey, thank you so much. I’ve been well and haven’t experienced any sickness. My OB said that even if it was under cooked it was likely dropped in hot oil for an amount of time that would kill bacteria/parasites. OB then told me that she ate sushi while she was pregnant.
