Who is making cute announcements for their partners and parents?
I have zero chill and told my partner as the test was drying (& then took 2 more). But his parents have been wanting grandchildren for a lonnnnng time and we want to do something cute for them. After this post I’m going to scour Pinterest but I’d love to hear and see what y’all have planned or done in the past.
With my last, I gave my in laws a plate my daughter decorated and I wrote on top “I’m eating for two… again.” but in Spanish since they’re from PR.
Re: Cute announcements
The above is exactly how I announced my pregnancy with our youngest, so I definitely wanted to recreate it to honor her promotion 😊
When he came home I told him to sit on the couch and close his eyes because I had a "sweet treat" for him and then set my phone to record and laid all the items + pregnancy tests out on our coffee table. Needless to say, he was surprised! We weren't trying nor preventing.. so it caught us off guard! We already had plans to get married in August, so now we have two things to look forward to! This will be our first ☺️
It's an intimate wedding, so both sets of parents will be there.. we plan on telling them immediately after saying "i do" .. I'll hold my belly, and he will pull out our ultrasound pics from his pocket 🥹 I should be around 13wks when we tie the knot, so really the timing is perfect!!
For his parents: we got some cute baby bibs and a baby outfit. We had the dad open the bibs and the mom open the outfit. His parents reaction was a bit of a let down. His mom was apparently getting over a cold so I am cutting her some slack but his dad seemed like he couldn't care less. I am hoping that is just the shock though.
For my parents and my son: we got some cute bibs and a pack of white onsies (they were out of the cute ones). I used a colored sharpie and wrote Hello World on the onsie we had my dad open and wrote I have the BEST big brother on the one we had my son open. My mom opened the bibs and we had all 3 open their gifts at the same time. My parents and son's reactions were great! My mom is super excited and almost started to cry and my dad was thrilled. My son is happy as well but it is taking a bit longer to fully sink in for him lol.
We don't know what to do for annoucing it publicly though. Any cute ideas?

To tell my parents - my mom has a wall covered in framed pictures of her (at the time, 5, now 8, and soon to be 10) grandkids. She lives in Florida and I live in another country, so my sister, who lives just a few hours from my parents, helped me with my plan. I sent her an ultrasound pic of the baby at 13 weeks and she got it printed at CVS. Then she stuck the picture on top of one of the pictures my mom had on the wall. She then recruited her 6yo daughter. My sister was sitting on the couch in the room with the pictures with her ipad, and my husband and I were connected to her via video call (but not talking - my parents didn't know she had us there on standby). My brother-in-law had his phone ready to start video recording from another room where he was with my parents. So, my 6yo niece suddenly calls out from the room with the pictures, Grandma! Who's that? Who's that baby? And my parents start walking in the room to where she was, saying, what, what are you talking about? And my niece pointed to the ultrasound picture, saying, right there! There's that baby in the belly! (meanwhile, my BIL is recording all of this) My parents turned around, totally confused, thinking maybe my sister was going to announce that she was pregnant. By then my sister had turned the ipad on her lap around, so my parents could see me and my husband on the video call, all smiles. It all turned out so cute, and if you have to announce long-distance, it makes for a great video memory.
To tell my in-laws - this was totally last-minute. We took them out to dinner and literally at the last second, I just grabbed a few pictures off my phone of my various nieces and nephews and put them in an album, but then made the last picture our ultrasound picture. I was just casually showing them the pictures, giving updates on the kids in my family. When lo and behold, we get to the ultrasound picture and I didn't really say anything, just let them ask, wait, who's that? And we just started smiling and it finally started to dawn on them and we said, that one's ours (my husband was recording their reactions on video the whole time).
To tell the rest of my husband's family - we just did the classic where you take a group picture and then say, OK, on the count of 3, say 1-2-3 Katie's pregnant!
We didn't announce it publicly beforehand, just after she was born. But I think I will this time
