Baby is the size of a (an): lime

Team blue/pink/green: blue! Another boy 😊

    Upcoming Appointments: August 29

How are you feeling?: Why is the nausea back? 😭

Rants/Raves: Decided to tell my boss today after my hairdresser asked me point blank yesterday if I was pregnant. I understand it was not a preplanned meeting but if I hadn’t barged into her office, I feel like she would’ve blown me off. And her office is in another building from mine. A 2-block walk with lightning crotch is not fun.

Questions: Anybody else having to make the switch to the maternity wardrobe now?

GTKY: What’s the one thing you’ve always wanted to learn?
I always wanted to learn karate and piano. But I still can’t type without looking at my fingers (sorry Mavis Beacon), so I think it’ll be karate. DS has already said he wants to learn, so maybe we can do it next year.

Baby is the size of a (an): Lemon 🍋

Team blue/pink/green: 🩷 (still waiting to confirm with NIPT)

    Upcoming Appointments: September 17th

How are you feeling?: still okay!

Rants/Raves: not really a rant or a rave lol. So far I’ve only told my best friend (literally days after getting my positive) and one of my sisters. And my husband of course. But it’s starting to get difficult to contain 😅 I’ve felt like I’m just going to let it slip on accident so I just need to announce asap. We live far from all our family though so if anyone has any ideas on announcing over FaceTime please tell me lol. I got my daughter a big sister shirt so I’ve been thinking about just putting that on her for the grandparents or something. But if anyone has a more creative ideas I’m all ears🙈

Questions: I know my due date is on the earlier side than most but was a bit late getting the NIPT done. How long did it take for results? I’m pretty sure mine is through labcorp and I do have an account so I can view them asap but I’m already impatient.

GTKY: What’s the one thing you’ve always wanted to learn? How to speak another language fluently. My dad’s side of the family speaks fluent French and Italian. I took French in high school but didn’t take it seriously. We did duolingo before traveling to Italy and Croatia a few years ago to get by but not much further than that.

    @fininevermore

I haven't officially switched (or bought really) any maternity clothes yet but I am definitely almost to that point. Currently using a hair tie to close my pants since they won't button anymore. I am trying to hold out as long as I can!! The most frustrating will be trying to find maternity business attire that I like. I'm an attorney and will still have to wear suits occasionally throughout so it should be interesting!

    @paigemm23

Could you send a package with a cute little surprise like a onesie or something but tell them not to open it until you're on facetime together? Then you can see the reaction when they open it and they still have a tangible "surprise."

When did you get your bloodwork done for the NIPT? I had mine drawn last Tuesday through Unity but the lab received then Wednesday night. They say 7 to 14 days but I know people who have gotten theirs back within 5! I think labcorp is pretty fast too.

ETA: I just checked my Unity portal and my results came in sometime between last night and this morning! So 5 business days (7 calendar days)

Baby is the size of a (an): macaron

Team blue/pink/green: Blue! Confirmed with NIPT today :)

Upcoming Appointments: August 31! Just a few more days!

How are you feeling?: Great!!! Still really tired by the end of the day but my nausea is almost completely gone. I am getting some annoying reflux now when I go to bed but otherwise I am very content with how I am feeling these past few days.

Rants/Raves: Just excited to get our NIPT results back and see that our little bean is low risk for any abnormalities!

    Questions: None ATM

GTKY: What’s the one thing you’ve always wanted to learn?
I have always wanted to learn how to ballroom dance. I just think its so beautiful and I would love to be able to move like that!
  • @cortneylynnn, that’s a great idea! I’ll have to get something together to send to them and do that for at least my in laws! They just bought a new house so I can try to tie into that a bit and they won’t suspect a thing!! I got my bloodwork done this past Friday so I’m hoping to hear back by this Friday! I remember it being super fast with my first so hoping it’s the same this time around. Congrats on all the good news for your baby boy🩵
  • @paigemm23 Picture frames with your first and an ultrasound pic for this one? That’s how I would do it. And I got my NIPT results a week after the blood draw.
@cortneylynnn I got all my maternity work clothes from Motherhood Maternity last year, but they were having a site wide sale at the time. The first time around I got everything from Target, including business casual, though you will have to dress more professionally than me.
  • @fininevermore yes to maternity wardrobe! I’m in leggings these days and in my post-partum pants from last time that are 2 sizes up already, soon enough it will be maternity stuff at almost 10 weeks 🤦🏻‍♀️ haha
  • @fininevermore I’m in stretchy waists only at this point. Anything with a button doesn’t fit.

@paigemm23 my NIPT is through Natera and it took 1 week from the time my sample reached the lab to get the results for baby back. I still don’t have my carrier screen back.

Baby is the size of a (an): Apricot

Team blue/pink/green: Trying so hard not to look

Upcoming Appointments: Next month. AMA appt this morning went great - no concerns.

How are you feeling?: I have caught the current daycare crud, RSV maybe? Whatever this is, it is lingering.

Rants/Raves: Rants: not being able to take any good meds when you’re pregnant. I’d like some DayQuil so bad. Raves: we go on vacation on Friday!

Questions: NATM. But I got an answer to my baby aspirin question from last week: recommendation is due to my age (36) and less due to blood pressure. Dr said it improves blood flow to the placenta which is good for baby and lowers risk of preeclampsia for me.

GTKY: What’s the one thing you’ve always wanted to learn? A second language! Spanish would be so helpful!
  • DD / Weeks + Days: March 24 / 10w2d

    FTM/STM/TTM+: STM

Baby is the size of a (an): Strawberry

Team blue/pink/green: Green. If I have to choose, I'd prefer a boy just to have one of each, since we probably won't have more. But I'll definitely feel a sense of relief if it's a girl - already have all the clothes, plus I "know" how to be a mom to a girl. And don't have to face my fear of being peed in the face by a boy :)

    Upcoming Appointments: Hopefully next week

How are you feeling?: Fine. Just exhaustion and constipation, but pretty normal for me.

Rants/Raves: Rant - my house is a mess, with a million piles of clothes I can't bring myself to sort through and put away/wash because of exhaustion and overwhelm. It's depressing, and I know it's stressing MH out (and me, though I'm in denial).

Rave - being at the ultrasound together this morning and seeing the baby and hearing the heartbeat was so bonding for me and MH, especially given that we had a stupid fight last night. It made things feel so real and hopeful.

    Questions: natm

GTKY: What’s the one thing you’ve always wanted to learn? To drive a stick shift
  • DD / Weeks + Days: March 14 / 11w5d

Baby is the size of a (an): Macaron

Team blue/pink/green: hoping for a girl so we have one of each - should find out this week when the NIPT comes in

Upcoming Appointments: first ultrasound (finally!) next week

How are you feeling?: sooo tired. Doing this with a toddler is torture

Rants/Raves: my morning sickness is over and I can’t stop eating. I love snacks!!!! Rant is I just can’t believe how tired I am and chasing a 2 year old is very very hard.

    Questions: natm

GTKY: What’s the one thing you’ve always wanted to learn? My husband is Brazilian and speaks Portuguese to our son. My Portuguese is okay, but I’d love to get to the point where I can speak it with our kids too.

Baby is the size of a (an): 🍒

Team blue/pink/green: still green, of course team healthy, slight preference for another girl

Upcoming Appointments: NIPT blood draw and first Midwife Apt next week

How are you feeling?: like 🗑️- I just want to sleep and be lazy

Rants/Raves: I just really, really miss my Vyvanse, my ADHD is out of control and my feel frustrated. I’ll make a support post for ADHD mama’s who miss their meds.

My rave is about my Angel of a husband. He’s been stepping up and our rock

Questions: we need a new car 😭 our 20 year old gal is on her way out. Between a rav4 hybrid and a Highlander hybrid - anyone have either? It’s Toyota or bust for me, but with two in car seats I’m thinking the Highlander may be a wider purchase for the space, but the sticker shock is a lot, lol. If you have either, let me know!

GTKY: What’s the one thing you’ve always wanted to learn? Wood working and home Reno’s!
  • @dunder_mifflin We just bought a Honda Odyssey and I will forever sing the praises of a mom van now! Those sliding doors are amazing and there’s so much room in the second and third row!

But between the two you listed, I think it depends on a couple of things. The newer highlanders aren’t as big and I don’t think the third row is really functional for regular use. So, if you want more cargo space and plan to keep the seats folded, I’d go Highlander. Otherwise, I’d probably chose the RAV4 due to price 🤷🏻‍♀️

  • @laj0217 I’m actually a HUGE minivan fan! We considered the Sienna but it is just a hair too big for our garage. I’m kind of jealous you have one (we drive a 2004 Chrysler intrepid right now and it’s comically just an inch shorter than a Sienna even though it’s a sedan, lmfao. It’s a boat! We have to park touching our garage wall, even making a dent in the drywall to fit 🤦🏻‍♀️)

This is a very helpful response! I appreciate it! I think the intention of the third row would be more for those occasional “oh I have space if you want a ride!” To my friends or extended family. The third row will be down 90% of the time for the cargo space since we road trip to Montreal often to see my in-laws (6 hour drive from Toronto and we got once every 3 months, and yes, it’s a lot 😂).

The only car that was just brought to my attention was a Mazda due to its reliability and how nice they look and now I’m confused. I should also test drive the CX-90 and see what deal they can give us and decide. We have money on a Highlander coming in to reserve it (usually 12-18 month wait for a hybrid, it’s bonkers!) so that gives us time to shop around a bit. If anyone has a Mazda, let me know! Lol.

Thanks for the insight, it’s very helpful! I hope you love the Odyssey
  • @dunder_mifflin we just bought a Mazda CX-5 in April. I love the look, the space, and the safety features that come with it. I’ve also researched that they’re pretty reliable. The one thing about my cx-5 though is that it doesn’t come with a lot of bells and whistles in the inside. For example it has minimal interior lights, no seat warmers, and our back row middle seat doesn’t pull down with cup holders, the way most cars due (I didn’t even think to check as I thought that was standard and didn’t have kids when I bought it). Im sure you can get a Mazda with upgrades but the standard packages don’t come with a lot of bells and whistles. I love my Mazda and will probably continue to buy Mazda’s in the future but there are definitely things to consider. I’ve heard great things about Rav 4’s.
  • @ttbird29 thanks so much for letting me know! People love their CX-5’s, looks like an awesome car! We will need something a bit bigger, I made an apt. To test drive the CX-70 and 90 and we will see if that makes sense for us. If it’s not that different than the Highlander, we will go Toyota, but if we can get a good deal and also it’s nicer to drive, we will really consider the Mazda 🥰 I appreciate the response!
  • @dunder_mifflin we have a 2023 RAV4 hybrid and I really love it. BUT with a second kid coming I wish we had gotten the highlander - our car already feels a little tight with one car seat and a big dog and I’m worried about it being cramped with 2 kids. My friend with 2 kids just upgraded to the highlander hybrid and she’s really loving it. The Toyota hybrids are so great - no disappointments on anything about the car (except backseat size). Hope this helps!
  • @elsalee26 thanks so much for the feedback! We were very set on a rav4 and decided on a Highlander for that reason! So nice to know your friend loves it :) the rav4s are a much sexier car tho, I have to say! I feel like the Highlander is a bit dated and a bus, but we managed to snag a nightshade edition in the “cement” colour and it looks much more sleek. Just eagerly waiting for it to come in.

honestly trading your rav4 in for a Highlander or private sale could be an option! With a RAV4 hybrid, you will probably make your money back 😂 the used car market for a RAV4 / Highlander hybrid in Canada is bonkers. They are going for just a bit less - or more - than new ones. We got lucky and found a cancellation of an order, otherwise it’s 12-18 month wait for a hybrid Highlander.

We test drove a Mazda cx-90 and it felt more nimble and luxurious than the Highlander. For a moment it was a close contender, but I think the practical choice will prevail here. Thanks for the feedback!
  • @dunderdunder_mifflin said: I actually traded in a Mazda cx-5. I loved it, but the back seat was a little tight. Such a great driving experience. With the cx90 being bigger, that might fix the backseat issue.
