Miscarriage/Pregnancy Loss

Unsure if I’m experiencing a miscarriage

Hello. I’m currently supposed to be 6 weeks and 6 days pregnant but an internal ultrasound last night showed 6 weeks and 3 days. I went to the ER after experiencing cramping and bleeding about the same to my period. The blood looked almost disintegrated like it was dried tissue being expelled and I had a small clot this morning also dark brown. I was told at the hospital that they could see there was a visible pregnancy but could not get a heart beat. I’ve been extremely faint, nauseous, and unable to even stay awake most of the time for more than 24 hours. I have an appointment in 4 days and I am scared that I’m experiencing my first miscarriage. I have a 3 1/2 year old and a 6 month old and have never gotten similar symptoms but have had issues with pain in my cervix and uterus since having my son (he was 9lbs 4oz and I am less than 130lbs). My husband doesn’t believe I’m having a miscarriage but I have an awful feeling and I’m nervous. I’m having a hard time taking care of my other children since getting hit really hard over the last 24 hours with these issues. I’m not sure if anyone else has had a similar situation and would be open to sharing the outcome.

  • The earliest one can see a heartbeat is around 6 1/2-7 weeks.  So you may be too early.  The ER is an AWFUL place to go to for threatened MC as they are not specialists and often leave you more scared.  Waiting for your appointment is the best thing.  You may just have a SCH.  Or it could be more serious.  But your OB will know better than the ER.
