2nd Trimester

Manicures and pedicures

Hey!
I’m 18 weeks, recently went to a nail salon and got a regular manicure and pedicure. There were people sitting next to me getting acrylics and particles were going into the air from the drilling. The fumes were also really strong, and the ventilation didn’t seem to be the greatest since they had to keep the door closed due to the AC.
I did wear an N95. I’m just wondering everyone’s opinion on getting your nails done while pregnant.
Wondering if I should avoid going for the rest or the pregnancy.
😊

  • Is it really worth it?  Nope!

  • It’s personal preference but if it bothers you then don’t keep going. I would think Wearing a mask makes it pretty safe.
  • Maybe go somewhere that does less acrylics and more gel/dip that doesn’t have strong fumes? I’ve gone multiple times and never even smell any of the chemicals, perhaps you can just ask to be seated a couple seats away from others.
  • Good idea with the mask! I just had to find a different salon that was larger that seemed to have better ventilation. When I first tried to get a mani Pedi I was concerned about the fumes but then was surprised to see how negatively the smell affected me (dizzy, nauseous). I took a break for a while and decided to find a larger place. I also don't go as often as I would not pregnant, but that's for me to save money and also to avoid as much as possible the salons. I like doing my own nails but girlllll can't reach my toes anymore.
