HCG level confusion.

Hi, so I am currently 4 weeks 6 days pregnant. I went to the er 2 days ago due to pains I never had with my other two and HCG came back abnormal with a hcg level of 1,686. Everything I’ve looked at says that’s normal. Doctor said it was low and had me come back today. Test still says abnormal and waiting to see the actual count. I’m just confused on why it says abnormal and doctors say low but everything I’m reading says normal. This is my first pregnancy after loss.

    According to my hospital guideline testing results, your levels are normal for how far along you are. It will read abnormal, but it would be abnormally high, not low! What’s important is that the number is increasing after 48-72 hours! Hope that helps!
