Subchorionic Hematoma

Hi! I had my ultrasound a week early (6w6) because I had two very light isolated incidents of spotting and cramping and my doctor knows I have anxiety.  Turns out I have two very small subchorionic hematomas causing the light spotting.  Luckily they are small and not causing a ton of bleeding. My obgyn actually had a big one in her last pregnancy that caused massive bleeding (her baby was fine and now a pre-teen).  I am on pelvic rest and not supposed to lift anything or exercise for 2 weeks when we have another ultrasound to monitor. Hoping they absorb by then or just stay small. Has anyone had SCH? Did they absorb? What did you do to make sure they didn’t get bigger?

  • @etexash713 I think a friend of ours did, and she had the same instructions her whole pregnancy, it eventually absorbed, though! I can confirm this after we share our news with them soon as asking her now would be sus. Everything turned out great and she has the cutest, happiest, healthiest baby boy now!

  • Thank you! Mine are tiny for now. I actually felt relived to know why I was bleeding and that it shouldn’t affect the baby. My doctor did not seem concerned at all. But I just want to make sure they don’t grow
  • My friend had a fairly large one with her pregnancy. Her doctor told her not to worry about it but of course she did! She didn’t catch hers until the second trimester though. And by the time of her next ultrasound it was gone! Baby was normal and healthy!
  • I currently have one. I bled at 10 weeks. I am now 12 weeks with no bleeding. It can be scary, but I also know many women who had one and now have very healthy children!
  • I have one and I'm 11 weeks and 4 days. I had some very very light bleeding today and it scared me!
  • I am now 10w and my smaller bleed absorbed and the larger one shrunk to 1/4 its original  size. I go back in 2 weeks and I am hoping it will be gone.  I haven’t bled in 3 weeks. Tired of not being able to lift anything, or exercise and being on pelvic floor rest.
  • Just be cautious and avoid lifting heavy objects. Take time to relax, dear.
