Trying to Get Pregnant

IF Testing & Treatment w/o Aug 5

**This is a place for those of us who have already started TTC, but have started infertility testing and/or treatments. You can express your thoughts, feelings, and frustrations on infertility. TTC can be a long journey naturally, then add in the difficulties associated with infertility, and it becomes a whole new ballgame. The road to infertility can be lonely, frustrating, and complicated, so let's make this a place where we can vent, ask questions, and support one another. Feel free to resurrect this thread at any point in the week if you have something to say. Treat this as an ongoing conversation.

Re: IF Testing & Treatment w/o Aug 5

  • Diagnosis (if you've been): Unexplained

    Status (TI/ICI/IUI/IVF/FET/benched): FET

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): FET on Wednesday!

How are things going?: Good. I was getting really nervous about the FET, but I’m feeling good about it now. I’m really not enjoying having to take progesterone suppositories three times a day, but it’s certainly better than if I had to do progesterone shots.

    Any questions?: Nope

GTKY: Do you have any siblings?
    I have 3 siblings. I’m second-oldest.

  • @britters314 Will be thinking of you tomorrow and crossing all fingers and toes!!

    Diagnosis (if you've been): Unexplained

    Status (TI/ICI/IUI/IVF/FET/benched): IVF

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): IVF

How are things going?: Things are looking fine for the IVF cycle—stopped birth control last night, meds arrive today, and initial cycle visit is on Friday. Not expecting any surprises there, but I wasn’t expecting surprises last week either…

…sigh. The hysteroscopy turned up “abnormal tissue” and some possible polyps, so I’m booked for surgery in earlier September to clear all of that out before we try another FET. Disappointed to see our timelines pushed back yet again, but trying to practice patience and trusting my doctors through the process.

    Any questions?:

GTKY: Do you have any siblings? I have one sister and one brother, and I’m the youngest. We’re all very close in age—sis and I are less than 3 years apart, with bro in the middle—which at times made it hard to get along as kids because we were always in the same schools, activities, etc. but I think has kept us closer as adults.

  • @aisleofviewtwo That sucks that you need to do a surgery. How long do you need to recover afterward before you can do an FET?
  • @britters314 Thankfully it’s theoretically only about a month—they’ll want to do another hysteroscopy a few weeks after the surgery to make sure everything healed up nicely. So if they get everything right (and my uterus behaves itself) we could go again in October!
  • Good luck today @britters314! Thinking of you.
  • Update: They thawed two of our three embryos today. Unfortunately one didn’t survive, but we were able to transfer the other! The embryologist said the embryo didn’t look the best and said not to get my hopes up too much, but that there is still a chance of it working. So we’ll see. For now I’m just happy to know there is an embryo growing inside me and I’m praying it implants!
