    EDD / Weeks + Days: March 9 (unconfirmed) / 8 weeks + 1 day

FTM/STM/TTM+: STM. My first is now 7 years old.

Baby is the size of a (an): Raspberry

    Team blue/pink/green: Team Green

Upcoming Appointments: I have my first appointment with my doctor on August 8 and it feels like that's still forever away because I am so excited for it

How are you feeling?: I am doing alright. Although this feeling super hungry and then full after 5 bites thing can stop haha.

Rants/Raves: We found out that we have to go back into the office in a couple months for 4 days of the week and work from home on Fridays (we are currently fully remote) which sucks because we thought I'd work from home with this one but now we have to come up with a different plan. Oh and they only gave us 80 days notice so yay! Lol

Questions: Has anyone else had their 14 pound dog jump off of their stomach while laying on in a recliner? He got excited and went to jump off my lap and one of his back legs using my stomach as a ramp to jump off of. Thankfully he's only like 14 lb and it was just one foot but I was not thrilled with him last night and it gave me a slight panick attack.

GTKY: What book or TV show would you recommend and why? I haven't read many books lately (sad) but we watched The Final Table and 24in24: Last Chef Standing and both of those were awesome! There's no drama or anything but they were good shows to just unwind and relax while watching.

Edited because I forgot to add my EDD in my answer lol

  • EDD / Weeks + Days: 7 weeks + 4 days

FTM/STM/TTM+: STM - my first is 9 years old

Baby is the size of a (an): Today's fun fact says the size of a headphone earbud!

Team blue/pink/green: Team Blue but really just healthy baby!

Upcoming Appointments: August 1st! Two more days!!

How are you feeling?: I feel decent, just kind of blah most days. I seem to be fine on the weekends when I can keep busy with things to keep my mind off of it, but then when I am stuck at my desk in my office at work I seem to feel the worst. Probably because I can't just take a break and lay on the couch to recharge!

Rants/Raves: There is so much new baby gear since having my son! I don't even know what to do with myself. I feel like I should know exactly what I need to get but here I am just as overwhelmed as the first time looking into everything!

Questions: Any other STM + have been experiencing hip/round ligament pain very early? I remember not having these aches until much later the first time, but I know things change more quickly in subsequent. I also wondered if a large time gap between pregnancies would have any effect on that. Like if my body will handle this more like a first time pregnancy than a second since its been on a baby hiatus for a decade.

GTKY: What book or TV show would you recommend and why? I am currently reading the Throne of Glass series and I am OBSESSED. I am tandem reading Empire of Storms and Tower of Dawn right now. Also, my husband and I love to watch The Mole on Netflix.
  • @SaphireSweetie88

I have two large Australian Shepherds and they are the biggest cuddle bugs. They love just jumping full force on top of me to get into my lap. I am having to be so vigilant to try to see it before it happens! I just keep telling myself that the baby is tucked so far down in there right now there is enough cushion that everything will be ok! Hopefully by the time I am showing they have gotten used to not jumping onto mom's lap anymore!  :D
  • @SaphireSweetie88 I think you’re fine! My toddler climbs/falls all over me and he is 24lbs. No issues from it. The baby is still pretty safely tucked into your pelvis at this point :)
  • @cortneylynnn I don’t know if it’s round ligament pain but with my first pregnancy and this one, I’ve had a nagging back ache during first trimester. I tried a heating pad on low yesterday, and that helped a lot.
  • EDD / Weeks + Days: March 7th//8 weeks, 3 days

    FTM/STM/TTM+: STM

Baby is the size of a (an): wild strawberry

    Team blue/pink/green: Green

    Upcoming Appointments: August 19th

How are you feeling?: Honestly, not that bad, but I am a miserable pregnant person. So, my back hurts, I’m low grade nauseous all the time, and I want nothing more than a nap!

Rants/Raves: Rants: buildings in the south US over use the air conditioning in the summer and I am sooo cold right now at work. Raves: my mom is babysitting the toddler tonight and we are going to see Deadpool vs Wolverine with friends.

    Questions: NATM

GTKY: What book or TV show would you recommend and why? I just finished Lessons in Chemistry and really enjoyed it. TV show: I have a to-watch-list, but it’s hard to watch anything all the way through with a toddler who won’t sleep alone 🤷🏻‍♀️
  • edited July 2024
@cortneylynnn - I have not experienced that (yet) and I have a 7 year gap between my last pregnancy and this one but I would think it's normal?

What is Throne of Glass about? I LOVE the Mole too!! I forgot about that show haha

I have to watch mine too now apparently lol. Hopefully we both can get our dogs to calm a bit haha

    @SaphireSweetie88

Throne of Glass is so complicated to describe. I'm not sure if you've heard anything about the ACOTAR series, but its the same author - Sarah J. Maas. It is a fantasy series and the main character, Celaena, is an assassin and the books follow her transformation from a slave to a queen. If you like fantasy stuff you'd like it - if not you'd probably hate it!
  • @cortneylynnn - I may have to check it out! It sounds interesting!

  • EDD / Weeks + Days: 7+4

    FTM/STM/TTM+: STM; oldest is 8

Baby is the size of a (an): microphone earbud? @cortneylynnn we must have the same due date!

    Team blue/pink/green: green

Upcoming Appointments: August 5. Just one more week!

How are you feeling?: Nauseous, fatigued, gassy and always hungry

Rants/Raves: GO SEE DEADPOOL AND WOLVERINE. That is all.

    Questions: NATM

GTKY: What book or TV show would you recommend and why?
My favorite book series of all time is The Chronicles of Narnia, because his storytelling style sounds just like my grandmother.
Next to that would be The Dresden Files. A hard boiled noir style detective series about a PI that just happens to also be a wizard. I literally am obsessively reading the author’s webpage looking for updates on the next book. I broke my rule about not reading series before they are complete and now I’m paying for it, lol.
  • @fininevermore

Yayyy due date buddies! March 13th?!? It says jelly bean today!
  • EDD / Weeks + Days: March 10/ 8 weeks 1 day

    FTM/STM/TTM+: first time

Baby is the size of a (an): I don’t remember what it said today lol

Team blue/pink/green: pink but likely will be blue

Upcoming Appointments: first appointment was yesterday and seeing the ultrasound was surreal, next one is 8/28

How are you feeling?: blegh, so tired and just not great. We are going on a trip tomorrow and I’m looking forward to it but no to packing

Rants/Raves: electrolytes first thing in the morning are still the best

Questions: I got a lot of my questions answered at the doctor yesterday but still nervous about a lot especially with a puppy at home

GTKY: What book or TV show would you recommend and why? I’ve been reading non stop lately. I really loved the Paris apartment for a quick summer read, I’m digging more into my pregnancy books now
  • @eclaire90 - Where are you going on your trip? Also I am jealous you got your ultrasound already haha. You're due 1 day after me (mine isn't confirmed yet) and my 1st appointment isn't until next week!

    FTM/STM/TTM+: FTM

Baby is the size of a (an): Blueberry

Team blue/pink/green: Green I guess, its our 1st so either is fine!

Upcoming Appointments: Aug 5th for a 2nd Ultrasound. My first Ultrasound at 6W, 2D, they said babys heartrate was too low :(

How are you feeling?: Still excited to be having a baby. Symptoms are still minimal. Staying optimistic that my little nuggets heartbeat will increase.

Rants/Raves: Nothing at the moment but I cant wait to tell my mom the news 💕

Questions: Our destination wedding is June 2025 in Mexico and Im wondering if it’ll be too soon to travel with a newborn.

GTKY: What book or TV show would you recommend and why?

Cliché but Grey’s Anatomy is still one of the BEST shows Ive ever watched. Lol

@knottiebe8d10b9768e3ad1 - assuming your baby is close to your due date or earlier, then theoretically it is okay but it also depends on your baby's health and your health too. I *think* they recommend not flying before 3 months but don't quote me on that.

    EDD / Weeks + Days: March 25 (unconfirmed), 6 weeks, 0 days

    FTM/STM/TTM+: STM, DD is 4 🥰

Baby is the size of a (an): sweet pea!

    Team blue/pink/green: green so far

Upcoming Appointments: first ultrasound for August 8

How are you feeling?: HUNGRY! All the time! I’m not nauseous this time around, but I’ve already gained 10 lbs (much of it seems like water weight?) but I’m ravenous. I’m only 5 ft. Tall so I’m a bit worried

Rants/Raves: we have a new director or mental health at the hospital and he’s a tryrant, a literal king Joffrey (he’s very young and is taking pleasure in making our lives miserable?!) and it’s really challenging. Like this is public healthcare, go feed your ego somewhere else, it’s pathetic. End rant 😤

Questions: any other mama’s with ADHD? I really miss my Vyvanse, lol!y brain feels like scrambled eggs

GTKY: What book or TV show would you recommend and why?

HIGHLY recommend for all parents: The Anxious Generation: How the Great Re-wiring of Childhood Caused an Epidemic of Mental Illness by Jonathan Hiadt.

It’s a must-read for parents, we need to colllectively change course or we will continue to see the epidemic of skyrocketing rates of anxiety and depression in children and youth rise. He’s a social psychologist but he discusses everything we are seeing in clinic in child and adolescent psychiatry. I’m listening on Spotify Audiobook.

Anyone watching love island this season?!
  • EDD / Weeks + Days: March 23 // 6 weeks 2 days

    FTM/STM/TTM+: FTM

Baby is the size of a (an): lentil

    Team blue/pink/green: healthy

Upcoming Appointments: Had basic lab work up today but Ultrasound on Monday

How are you feeling?: Mainly tired and not much of an appetite but no throwing up and not really nauseous

Rants/Raves: had to get blood taken twice because they forgot two vials… rave is I’m super excited for US gymnastics!

Questions: anyone else’s doctor have them take a whole bunch of labs before their first appointment?

GTKY: What book or TV show would you recommend and why? The great alone by Kristin Hannah. Made me fall back in love with reading!
  • @dunder_mifflin - I am not watching it but I want to. DH wants to finish a show we have going first lol

@kas0211 - my dr didn't have me do a bunch before my first appointment. I had a blood draw yesterday and go back tomorrow to check HCG levels but that's because of some things I was noticing. Otherwise all my tests / labs are at my 1st appointment

  • @cortneylynnn March 13th!  Is it sad that the first thought I had at today’s fun fact was “I could go for some jelly beans right now”?

@dunder_mifflin Short mamas always hungry? Yeah, I’m in that camp too. My issue is I've got that with nausea so I’m all kinds of miserable. And don’t get me started on horrible higher ups. I think we’re on a hiring freeze and no one has the balls to tell us. They just increase our workload and when we complain, “we all have to pull together; we’re family!”

@kas0211 I’ve never had lab work before an initial appointment, even with my history. Though I think it’s a good idea.
  • @fininevermore and @SaphireSweetie88 ya I have had so much lab work. The first few were hcg/progesterone due to my hx. But for every new pregnancy they do a blood panel that requires like 7 vials of blood it’s crazy!
  • EDD / Weeks + Days: March 6th, 8 weeks + 5 days.

FTM/STM/TTM+: This is our first together baby. I have a stepdaughter that’s 12.

Baby is the size of a (an): Raspberry

Team blue/pink/green: Team pink, but really just want a healthy babe no matter the gender.

Upcoming Appointments: first ultrasound Aug 5th!

How are you feeling?: I have bronchitis so pretty rough since you can’t take hardly anything in the first trimester to help. Also started with headaches this week. Nausea is off and on, not horrible!  Very fatigued!

Rants/Raves: Why don’t they do the first appointment earlier and ultrasounds earlier?! Had to wait 4 weeks for first appt and it seemed like an eternity.

Questions: I just started spotting yesterday evening. No cramping or anything other symptoms. Everyone keeps saying it’s normal in the first trimester but to watch it , so I’m definitely nervous. Anybody else deal with this and how did you work through the anxiety?

GTKY: What book or TV show would you recommend and why?

friends because duh! Greatest show ever.
  • @SaphireSweetie88 we are going to Raleigh, with the humidity will be hotter than where I am now in LA. Currently procrastinating packing which will only end poorly.
I knew we had a busy few weeks ahead so I scheduled it the earliest I could right at 8 weeks.

How are you feeling?: Tired, shocked

Rants/Raves: Olympic gymnastics is giving me life! So in awe and proud of all the women competing

    Questions: none

GTKY: What book or TV show would you recommend and why? I just watched Your Honor on Netflix and it was intense but good

@fininevermore Lmao the “we’re a family” kills me! Honestly I’m so grateful I’m in a union/public sector right now because that tyrant can’t touch us if we’re doing our job. Our amazing manager just went on her mat leave for 18 months and il so sad she’s gone - but also relieved she will be protected from his antics - I would be worried he’d make up things and fire her (they aren’t unionized).

also yes, I always feel hungry these days !!y last pregnancy was like this in the first trimester. I gained 10lbs in first tri then, I feel like I’m close to that now. I’m just continuing to do high incline walking or my peleton 5x/week to try and keep things at bay before getting cleared for my more intense strength training.
  • @dunder_mifflin 18 months maternity leave?! Wow. I need to move to Canada lol. I don’t want to step on the scale and see how much I’ve gained. I’ll let the midwife let me know tomorrow.  I’m trying to walk when I can but I feel like I pulled a muscle in my crotch and if I walk too long it starts hurting. Hopefully I can get cleared for my weight training again. I miss lifting but DH is scared to death of me picking up a dumbbell right now. My coach, in deference to him, has me mostly doing stretching routines but I will let her know as soon as I can go back to a modified version of my old routine.
  • edited August 2024
@fininevermore we have the option of 18 months, it’s stretches out our employment insurance - so if you take 18 months it brings your income down to $350/week, which in Toronto is not liveable! I’m fortunate my employer tops me up for 6 months, and we have been aggressively saving for a while, we are very fortunate to be able to do it. Legally, my job has to be held for me and most take minimum 12 months, 18 months being more common now. I had 19 with my first and it was glorious 🥹 her 12-24 months was my favorite time ever. Oh and the other partner gets a bonus 8 weeks, which H is taking in the first summer 🥰

oh I hope you’re cleared! I completely understand how you’re feeling, I have PCOS and insulin resistant weight loss, I gain by inhaling air. And not being on my Vyvanse for my ADHD has made me ravenous. So I’m just accepting my fate again, lol. I’m not even overdoing it, I guess I was at a deficit before
