Re: July Randoms

  • I hope that it's okay that I decided to throw a few threads on here to organize/foster discussion. These seemed to be helpful in my past BMBs, but of course we can do whatever we'd like instead

I’ve been trying to do the same. I was thinking it may still be too early. 💖

@amberrrjade yes that was my concern too haha, but let's see if a monthly Randoms thread gets enough traction. I think ours was weekly... Actually maybe daily 5 years ago? But the boards are much quieter nowadays
  • I just joined a March group on Facebook, it’s 2025 Iris. They’re capping the group at 150 members.

  • I love the idea! I hate this stage of pregnancy where you have so many feels but are still keeping it a secret, so I love having some gals to share with.
Apparently the hormones are hitting me! My husband bought me McDonald’s for lunch today- it’s my favorite, and yes I know it sounds like I’m 5. By the end of the meal, I was starting to get a little queasy. Apparently he noticed me picking at the food and asked if I was okay. I legit just started uncontrollably crying and said, “I am going to be so sad if this hamburger is what finally makes me sick!” I realized how ridiculous it was, and then started laughing crying. Oh my goodness! This is gonna be a wild one!
  • Hey ladies! I just rounded the corner to 6 weeks and the nausea came right with it. Any tips for staying hydrated. I barely want to eat or drink anything but I know water would probably make me feel better. Thanks!
  • @emvillari I've found for me, chewing a vitamin gum containing b6 throughout the day helps a bunch, it's low dose so you can chew it a couple times. It helps by keeping the nausea at bay. I do it while I work. Also lemons/lemon water are helping me! Lemons are a natural neutralizer when digested and have helped me drink more water and keep the nausea down (plus the vitamin c is good for you!).

Haha I was randomly annoyed the other day before dinner and my husband basically pointed out that I was hangry by telling me I needed to eat. I told him not to point out that I was being unreasonable and started laugh crying as well! Hahaha hormones are fun!
  • Hi! Officially diagnosed with unexplained Infertility this past Monday and about to start IVF. then on Tuesday tested positive! When did y’all tell your supervisor? I have a male boss without kids (who I don’t particularly like).
  • I’m waiting till the 12 week mark to tell my supervisor. I want to have a solid plan for my maternity leave (I’m carefully saving my time to be able to take a full 12 weeks off work).
  • I told my boss after my confirmation appointment, but I work at a school and it’s a woman dominated field. She has children and was super supportive during my last pregnancy. She also has to approve all my leave for doctor’s appointments, so it was just easier to share.
  • I just saw Deadpool and Wolverine. GO SEE DEADPOOL AND WOLVERINE. That is all.

My hubby and I are wanting to see it!! We might see it on Tuesday. We saw Twisters over the weekend and it was fantastic!

  • @SaphireSweetie88 We saw Twisters last week! It was fun, but I ate way too much at the theater and blew a lot of money on mediocre food. Blame the hormones.
  • @fininevermore I totally get that. We may have done the same haha!

  • @SaphireSweetie88 I bailed and went to bed early 😂. I’m so glad I made that decision, though. I feel like a functioning human today. I can always catch the movie on a weekend.
  • @laj0217 - haha! Sucks you missed the movie but glad you're feeling good today!

  • @laj0217 I’m glad you feel better today. Just get there on the weekend. You won’t regret it! 😁
  • I bought a sneak peek test today 🙈 I wanted to stay team green but I’m already getting too impatient! I haven’t told my husband I ordered it yet and I’m debating on just keeping it a secret 😅 he’ll be out of town all next week. Would this be a bad wife thing to do? Haha🥲
  • @paigemm23

I already have my sneak peek test at home waiting for me to use it! I have my first appointment tomorrow to confirm everything and once that goes well I am going to do it! My husband knows though but I don't see why you couldn't keep it to yourself. Maybe reveal what the results are together but you could wait to tell him you did it until you have the results to share!

Possibly dumb first timer question, but I see people talking about getting multiple HCG results? I am not seeing my doctor until 8 weeks.  Is this for IVF or IUI? Or is it standard to have blood tests done every couple of days and my doctor is an outlier?
  • I had three early miscarriages before they started checking mine. Otherwise they never checked my levels and my first appointment would be at around 8 weeks
  • @knottie29a64e6224ff1566 - Usually you get blood draws done at your first appointment with the doctor. Some might have someone get them done sooner if the person's medical history deems it necessary or if things change with the pregnancy.  I wasn't supposed to get them done until next week but I had some spotting and bleeding so I got them done this week. Today was my 2nd (after waiting 48 hours) so now we just have to see what the numbers come back at.

Your doctor is not an outlier! I have had nothing until I go tomorrow for my first appointment when I am 8 weeks. Unless you have a medical history that makes it necessary, or there is something concerning happening it is not unusual to having nothing done until your first 8-10 week appointment. This is my second pregnancy and the first one was exactly the same and I have had two different doctors now.
  • Ok thank you guys for responding so quickly about the HCG testing. I am not telling anyone (besides my husband) until anfter our first prenatal on the 12th. So I can’t ask my friends these basic questions.
  • Oh my gosh, what’s a sneak peak test?! We are getting an NIPT week 10 for genetic things and then finding out the sex of the baby with that, but I’m intrigued!!
  • @dunder_mifflin

It’s a blood test that you do at home and send back to them and they check your blood for traces of male DNA to see if it’s a boy - if there is no male DNA then it’s a girl :)

It’s not as reliable as the NIPT but you can do it as early as 6 weeks!
  • @cortneylynnn oh my gosh, I never knew this existed! Haha I’m not judging at all that you ordered it without your H - test away! If NIPT didn’t tell me the sex, I would totally order this.

one of the nurses at work thought she was having a girl from all the ultrasounds. We had a big pink baby shower at work (lol it was so pink, I did not throw the shower, but this person went all out with a pink theme!). I messaged her weeks after asking how she was dojng. I may have even asked, “how’s your beautiful new baby girl?” She was like, “turns out it was a boy!” We were so shocked! As was she, lol! So for me, two things confirming gender is so helpful!
