Baby shower /coed family bbq date ADVICE NEEDED

Hosts are looking at August for our baby shower. It will be a backyard whole family bbq pool party type of event.
Our possibilities are the mid-August weekend or the late August weekend- which is also Labor day weekend. So is Labor day weekend a firm NO? Or is it a benefit?
We will have family traveling in from out of town. In our area, school systems start the 1st week of Aug or the last week of Aug. So both of our weekend choices DO NOT fall on the day before school starts, so I would think that would not be a factor for attendance.
Would you prefer to attend a Saturday midday afternoon or Saturday evening, or a Sunday afternoon family bbq?
Also we live in the south and church is a factor for a lot of people. So it would have to be after church hours on Sunday.
Give me your votes if you and your spouse/kids were attending.
