Pregnant after 35

Over 40 First Time Moms

Hi everyone,

anyone else an Over 40 First Time Mom? I am 43 and this is the first time I have been able to carry into the 2nd trimester (currently 15 weeks). Would love to know I’m not the only one in this journey <3 I have friends who had their 2nd or 3rd over 40, and guy friends who became first time dads over 40, but don’t know any other moms-to-be who are becoming or became a first time mom over 40.

While I’m excited, grateful, and feeling absolutely blessed with this opportunity and pregnancy, I am also a bit anxious with all the increased risks that come with being pregnant over 40. And that increases every 5 year interval.

@ziak271 Yay! So glad we found each other, hopefully more Over 40 FTMs find this thread. When are you due? We’re 15 weeks+5days with a baby boy (confirmed via NIPT) due January 7th  <3
  • Yay so excited for you and baby boy! I am 7 weeks, survived a loss earlier this year, and ofc high risk due to my age (41). Trying to remind myself to enjoy the ride and to have hope and joy -- not just worries! My main symptoms are fatigue.... some mild queasiness... and that's it. I took the pee test multiple times just to be sure lol. What's your experience been like so far?
  • Hi! I don’t know how I missed this thread! I’m 42 and a FTM! We are having a little boy due in January! I am 20 weeks and 3 days and chugging right along.

@peacefuladventures and I are connected in another chat since we are both having boys due on Jan 7 AND over 40! What are the chances!

Great to see you all here!
  • Love this thread! 43, FTM. Only 7 weeks so far. It is scary with the constant “bc of your age” when you go to the doctors office. Im just trying to focus on being grateful and having a healthy pregnancy 🫶🏾
  • Agree, my earlier appointments there was a lot of “because you are over 40” “because of your age” doomsday talks from multiple OBs and MFM doctors. 24+4 and so far a healthy and normal pregnancy, feeling very grateful and trying to enjoy being pregnant. What a wild ride so far!
  • Congratulations. I'm 45 pregnant with twins but not my first pregnancy. However it feels like my first with an 18 year age gap.
