@MrsCaliRN aww, hi baby!! That’s so annoying with the tech’s attitude and having to go back, but at least you’ll get another glimpse! And of course reassuring to know everything else looks great too.

I still can’t believe we’re halfway already! My AS is Friday so I’ll check back in here afterwards.

@mitchip contractions actually start super early, they’re just not always noticeable! It’s not labor contractions yet though, just practice ones and nothing to be concerned over. Usually you can make them go away by changing positions.

I’ve noticed them already too, I started feeling them at this point with my last pregnancy as well, but with my first I felt zero contractions until it was go time. At this point they’re not painful, just feels like a slight tightening.

  • @mitchip 🤣

I peed four times during my AS! It was ridiculous. My bladder wasn't full enough during the nuchal (even though I drink so much water), so I was trying to find the sweet spot of bladder fullness... The tech got the shots they needed with full bladder in the first 5 min so she let me empty it. Then 20min later she was like, it's getting really crowded in there, go let it all out. Then when she was just waiting on baby to move perfectly for one more shot she sent me out for a 10 min walk and suggested I pee AGAIN, and then when I was all over I had a little victory pee. Lol

I find the techs press pretty hard on baby, and especially after the last two it's been fairly painful /uncomfortable for a couple days after. So I don't love ultrasounds. And the whole full bladder thing isn't sweet. Lol

But we do have to go to the big city to see a specialist for another one in a couple of weeks as baby might have club foot (we found my hubby's brother had one, but it was corrected so well and early he didn't even remember). It also might just be squishy in there. It was difficult news for me to digest, but really, all that matters to me is all the organs and growth rates and genetics looked good, so I'm just thankful for that and I know that this is going to be the sweetest and most perfect baby there ever was. And now mom gets to see them for a sixth time!

I'll even attach a pic of the little thumbsucker. Thanks for sharing your pictures and stories 🥰
  • So weird, I get US every appt and i was never asked to drink more or not pee prior!  And super thankful for the fantastic US tech at our office since I see her so frequently… already to 2x month appointments… whohooo halfway to meeting the littles:)

I'm not currently pregnant but I'm happy for you all. Just wishing you all the positivity and health in life. Congratulations, mammies-to-be!
  • I should have had my AS this week but I’m sick so we rescheduled and the soonest they can do is the 17th. I’ll be 22w5d when we finally get our anatomy scan and that’s when we are finding out gender. It feels like waiting forever!
  • Hope you feel better soon! It's going to be so sweet when you see them next 🥰

Did you all have your AS with your OB?
We have to go to a third party imaging clinic so they don't give us information like size of baby etc. I have to wait until my next OB appt on the 24th to get all that info. (canada)

I love seeing all these pictures  <3

My AS was in-house, but I go to a midwife group and no midwife was present, just the US tech. I believe an OB has to review the scans regardless, not the midwife. It’s been similar with each baby for me (I’ve gone to a different clinic each pregnancy).

It usually takes a day or two for results to be posted in the online portal after an ultrasound. Usually there’s no follow-up appointment, you just see the results online when they’re available. They’ll call you to schedule a follow-up if something doesn’t look right.

The tech isn’t allowed to say anything during the scan because they’re not trained to interpret (although some of them will tell you if everything looks good or not anyway). They can tell you things like measurements and sex though.

  • @mitchip I'm under mixed consultant and midwife care, so I had mine at the hospital. My sonographer was telling me everything that she was doing during the scan and pointing out all the bits of the anatomy. My other two were similar but they mostly didn't explain what they were doing.
  • A little morning joy. Betty had full on hiccups which was adorable, and she is measuring a little ahead of schedule. Arms, legs, fingers, toes, organs - all look perfect. She even gifted us a little profile
