Babies: 0 - 3 Months

2 month in pain!

Hello! My 2 month old baby has been in so much pain during and after feedings. This has been going on for over a month now on formula. I switched his formula many times from Kendamil, to babys only gentle organic fornula, to similac 360 sensitive, to goats milk and he has not improved. He is currently on similac 360 sensitive for 2 weeks because I was desperate and the ingredients are not great on it and he still does not tolerate it! He is constantly crying during and after feedings. I thought maybe it could be relfux. I sat him up during and after feedings and even gave him pepcid the doctor ordered for him and no improvement. He is still crying in so much pain. Even in the middle of the night he will wake up screaming in pain. I changed the nipple size thinking he was annoyed from the nipple going too slow that did not help either. He is my 3rd child and I have never experienced this with my other 2. My first daughter had colic and I really don’t think my son now has it. What should I do? What formula would be better for him? He is always in discomfort throughout the day. The only time he isn’t crying is when I am walking around the house holding him. My pediatrician was not helpful and did not give me any answers on what to do. Please mamas help me! Thank you

Re: 2 month in pain!

  • I heard that the Kirkland brand formula helped a lot of moms with colic . It’s called Procare .
Also not sure if you shake the formula before feeds but I recommend swirling it instead to avoid bubbles.
Also I recommend over the counter Mylicon gas drops / gripe water!
    Warm baths helped tummy!

And I come from a Hispanic culture but I also recommend Chamomile tea ( it’s safe in moderation) a spoonful couple times a day. You can add to formula.
No honey ! Just plain tea. helps with tummy ache / colic!

  • My nephew had similar problems when baby (he’s 3 now) but they took it to the chiropractor and it helped a lot.
  • If your baby is allergic to milk, all of those would cause a reaction. You could try soy, or go full hypoallergenic with something like Nutramigen. But please get a doctor's advice. If your pediatrician isn't helpful, get a second opinion or ask for a referral to a GI doctor.
  • My baby was in a lot of pain when going to the bathroom or when his tummy was rumbling. I. Also switched his formula several times, but decided to stick to Kendamil organic cow but I had tried the goat milk. I thought he might be lactose intolerant but my Pediatrician says he's too young to have that allergy. He's now 10 weeks. I started adding Little Remedies Gas Relief drops into every bottle and it's helping quite a bit. He only cries once in a while when pooping.
  • My baby is on kendamil goat milk from target. At first, it causes digestive problems but after a week my baby gets used to it. I also add a little amount of gripe water in the baby's bottle and it seems to help.
  • My kiddo was similar… turns out it was a cows milk protein allergy. I cut out all soy/dairy from my diet, and it helped… though it did take a couple weeks to completely see the results. Perhaps your LO is suffering with this too? I know they make formula specifically for this condition :)
  • I have no experience with the formula issues, but Mama I'd look for a different pediatrician if you can! They should be your best source, if they're dismissing you about this now I'd worry about what they'll miss or dismiss as the baby gets older :( Best of luck!
