2nd Trimester

Sciatic nerve, pelvic pain

At 10 weeks pregnant is when I first got INTENSE lower back pain. It continued and didn’t stop. I was working as a mechanic at the time so I’m sure that didn’t help. At 12 weeks the obgyn told me it’s sciatic nerve pain. At 14 weeks I quit my job as a mechanic cause I couldn’t handle the pain. Pretty much limped everywhere I went. The sciatic nerve pain is still there but it’s not as intense. If I go to move positions in my bed, and use my legs to go in a “hip thrust” movement, it triggers it. If I’m at the gym and I’m ONLY doing my warm up stretches, lunges and side lunges hurt. Legit feels like my pelvis area is stretching beyond anything I’ve ever felt. Has anyone had this? I’m 19 weeks rn

Re: Sciatic nerve, pelvic pain

  • Is it the back of your leg or the front of your pelvis? If it’s truly the sciatic nerve, try looking up sciatic nerve glides on YouTube and working on strengthening in a posterior pelvic tilt position (you’ll want to do some core work in that position, like deadbugs - or a Pallof press in standing). But if it’s in the front, and truly more pubic bone, you’ll want to strengthen your adductors with more isometric exercises. Good luck!

  • Hi love little late to this post but make sure you talk to your ob. With my first pregnancy I had severe lower back pain. About a week went on and I started limping because the back of my legs from my knee to my ankles would cramp really bad. Every doctor I went to suggested exercises, so i did them all. And next thing I knew I was in a wheel chair because of sciatica, that lasted for my last 3 months of pregnancy.
But I hope all is well and wishing you a beautiful pregnancy <3
  • try chiropractic care! especially with a chiropractor who has prenatal training/ certifications. that’s what helped with my pain
