Exhausted Second Time Mom

This is my second pregnancy. Between caring for a two year old and working full time, I’m so exhausted. How do people on the second + pregnancy find the energy and time to exercise? Now that my morning (all day) sickness is easing up, I really want to be active. But I put my two year old to be and then basically put myself to bed. No time to work out in the morning either.

Re: Exhausted Second Time Mom

  • Just do the best you can. Maybe you won’t be super consistent but remember something occasionally is better than nothing ever. I’m on baby #4; I have an 8, 6, and 5 year old. I mostly work from home and school/daycare helps with the time part of it. Plus my kids are old enough to occupy themselves for 45 mins while I hop on the elliptical. But that still doesn’t help with the motivation v. exhaustion thing. For that, I have a Netflix show I watch ONLY when I workout that I look forward to. But I’ll also nap when husband gets home and is making dinner and hanging out with the kids. I could legit sleep like 20 hours a day though.

  • i can relate. currently pregnant with baby 2, work full time, have 2 dogs, and my husband works 3 weeks out of every month out of town. i commit myself to 3 days a week, whether it's after work, 5am or when my daughter goes to bed. i wouldn't stress about it, but sometimes the only way we have time is to make time! and i mean that in the nicest way lol hope you can find your balance soon💕
  • It does sound exhausting. I wouldn't know where to start. To be honest, I'm still at home with my 8 month old and my nausea has been getting worse in the last two weeks so I've just been trying to get through my day. I can't imagine having to work as well. I hope you can make a moment, even if it's only 20min-3x a week. I'm lucky to be able to nap when she naps in the afternoon (if we're not on a walk). I make time for myself (about 15-20min) once she falls asleep at night if I don't feel too sick.
  • If you can do just a few minutes of purposeful stretching & strength exercises it can a long way to keeping you more comfortable through pregnancy. Strengthing hips and glutes will help protect the low back. I like sumo squats, side leg lifts, and glute bridges.

I've been fairly good at getting in walks (you might be able to squeeze in a small one during your lunch break?) but I really want to be more consistent about doing exercises like this because I swear it's the reason I was the most comfortable during my pregnancy for kid #4
