2nd Trimester

20 weeks pregnant, but I don't feel pregnant anymore.

This is my first pregnancy, and my 1st trimester was pretty by the book. I experienced nausea, exhaustion, and my ultrasounds showed a strong, healthy baby.
I made 20 weeks today, and call me crazy, but i feel too normal. I think I've felt flutters, but as a FTM i have no idea if it's flutters or gas.
Is this normal. I don't know when i'm supposed to feel strong movement from my baby. I also feel like I have a belly, but I get nervous because I feel too normal. To go from extreme nausea and feeling like my body didn't belong to me, to 98% like myself again worries me.

  • The second trimester is typically when a lot of pregnancy symptoms from the first trimester subside- for some. With both of my pregnancies I’ve forgotten I was pregnant during the second trimester. I stopped getting nauseous, had more energy, etc. later into the second trimester I’d start to get reflux because the baby would be getting big enough to push up on my stomach, more moodiness, etc. If you’re concerned call your doctor and let them know. They can do an extra check for you or let you know if everything going on with your pregnancy is normal.

Hey! Congrats on hitting the 20-week mark! Totally get where you're coming from—pregnancy can be a rollercoaster of feelings. It's actually pretty normal for symptoms to ease up in the second trimester. Think of it as your body giving you a bit of a break.

You're not crazy about the flutters! First-time moms often describe those early movements as flutters, gas bubbles, or even tiny pops. It's still pretty early for strong kicks, but those will come soon enough, usually around 24-28 weeks.

Feeling "too normal" can be a bit unsettling after the wild ride of the first trimester, but it's usually a good sign that everything is going well. And that belly is a great sign your baby is growing!

If you're ever really worried, there's no harm in checking in with your doctor. But from what you've shared, it sounds like you're doing great. Enjoy this smoother part of the journey!
  • I’m 16 weeks and starting to feel normal. It is a bit scary since we worked so hard to get pregnant and I’m 40 years old, but my doctor and everything I read say that the 2nd trimester is when you start to feel like your old/normal self.
