I am 24 weeks pregnant and experienced severe chest pain today that literally felt like I was having a heart attack. Went to the ER and all my tests came back normal and baby was fine. They determined that it was just the muscles stretching. Has anyone else experienced this? If so, what did you do to relieve the pain???
Re: Chest Pain
OB says it's just stretching and postural.
I usually stretch out backwards as much as I can (flat on my back or back bends on a yoga ball). Tylenol can help some. My partner will hug my shoulders from behind to help square them out and push on the center of my back, that helps as well.
Finding what triggers it helped too. For me it was bad posture, being hunched/bent over, pressure on my chest (like from swimming) or overexertion. If I worked a really long day or did a lot during the day I often has extreme chest pain in the evening. It often felt like it was radiating through my chest into my back. Now I avoid things that trigger if I can. But as I've gotten later into my pregnancy even laying on my back triggers it.
