1st Trimester

Pregnant at 40 after early MC

Hey yall, I just need a place to vent. I had a miscarriage in 2021 at 6w5d and it was so hard because I’d just found out and was just starting to get excited.

Now I’m 40, just found out I’m pregnant, but worried. Took a digital yesterday that was positive and the Clearblue dye test was a pretty solid positive. I took a dollar tree pink dye test today and the line was there, but faint. Last time I knew something was wrong because the tests kept getting lighter and lighter 🥺

I had BW today to test HCG/progesterone and now I just have to play the waiting game until the results come in. I am so worried. Does anyone else have a similar story that turned out hopeful with a healthy pregnancy? Expecting the worst 😭

Re: Pregnant at 40 after early MC

  • I am 41 and am 6 weeks pregnant.  I had a miscarriage a year ago at about 8 1/2 wks and a second miscarriage 6 months ago at about 6 weeks.  The first one was tested and it was a trisomy issue.  Don't know why I lost the second.

I caught this pregnancy early so my OB started tracking my beta hcg around 4 weeks which have been increasing as they should.  My first ultrasound at 5w2d did see a sac that looks normal but it was to early to tell anything.  My next ultrasound is Thursday and I'll be 7 weeks so hopefully there is a heartbeat!  I never made it to the ultrasound stage with my other two so I really don't know how to compare the progress of this one to those.

I completely understand how you feel.  I am on pins and needles at every stage hoping this one sticks.  I have never had anxiety like this before.  Every cramp or ache sends me on a downward spiral on Google and I am constantly checking for blood.  All I can say is that there is hope.  Just because you had a miscarriage or multiples doesn't mean you can't have a healthy baby.  It happens all the time, even in your 40s.  Just stay hopeful!  I will keep you in my thoughts.
