Fussy and squirmy at breast and bottle

My 4 month old is getting more active with hands in her mouth and all, but I don't think being so squirmy while eating is just a milestone. She cries and wants to eat but won't stay latch. It's like she's hurting. I've thought maybe teething, needs to burp, needs to poop, reflux, maybe my breast isn't fast enough or is drying up but she does it on the bottle too... I'm sure it's one of these things but I'm not sure what to try to make her eat and feel better

  • Hi! I don’t know if I can necessarily give you the answers that you’re looking for but I wanted to respond to say you’re not alone. My daughter is 14 weeks and has went through very similar spells. My daughter does have acid reflux and is prescribed medicine but there’s still times when she just won’t stay latched. I’ve learned to just try to be patient and let her do her own thing. If after trying a few times I stop and then try again an either in a little bit or just all together later. It can be very frustrating on my part and I know that she can sense that, which definitely doesn’t help. I nurse on demand and instead of trying to get in fewer longer feedings, I’ve adjusted to shorter more often. It can be frustrating and tedious but it helps. Also I do still always see if she needs to burp because gas can be the problem sometimes. I hope something I’ve said helps and stay strong 😊
