Nursery Taught/Ideas

What's your plan for baby's sleeping arrangements/room? Have you seen anything nice you'd like to share? Veteran mums is there any products you love? All thoughts welcome.

Re: Nursery Taught/Ideas

  • If feels a bit early to be thinking about babies room but I've been off with half term this week so I've had some time to sort things out. We also moved DS2 out of the cot into a big boy bed last week.

I'm giving up my little used sewing room for the baby's room. It's a bit of an odd room it's small but long with a window at one end and a sloped ceiling in a lot of it because our house has dormer bedrooms. It is actually a really nice space but the previous owners decided to paint what is already a pretty dark room navy blue. So I've mainly been thinking about what paint colour to use and if I want a wall vinyl.

I've got all the future already, it's mostly pretty neutral apart from the cot which is beech with lemon yellow bars. I really love the yellow so I'd like a colour that goes with that. It's a Mokee Mini Cot, it's the same size as a travel cot/pack and play.

We’re keeping things simple, but the little guy will have to share a room with his sister. I probably won’t get a crib until he’s closer to six months old, he’ll be in a bassinet in the master until then. Everything is already set up in the nursery: changing pad on the dresser, toy shelf etc. I’ll have to get a separate changing pad for the dresser in the master while he’s in there as well.

Not sure what to do with clothing storage. I think I’ll just have to make do with the current dresser for my daughter, maybe get an extra bin under each crib. It’s a pretty big dresser so I think it’ll hold enough stuff for both of them, but I like to save the bottom drawers for next size up, but there won’t be space for that with clothes for two kids.

General nursery tips: it’s not necessary to have it ready when baby is born, they’ll likely spend most of the time in your room for the first few months/year. Changing mat on top of dresser is much more practical than a changing table. Recliners/gliders are not necessary (I never had one and did just fine).

  • FTM here and I’ve been thinking about the nursery since we started building our house in 2022. lol.
I would like to try shift sleeping so we’re setting up a daybed in the nursery.
We’ll see what actually ends up working once baby is here. 😂
