Has anyone taken vitamin b6 for nausea?

My doctor recommended it as I've had pretty bad all day nausea. Curious if it helped any of you.

@1sttimebbmama, yeah that is a very standard recommendation. I had zero luck with just B6 (it’s already in most prenatals), but if you combine that and a half tab of Unisom, it’s a DIY version of Diclegis, which is an effective & tested safe anti-nausea for a lot of people. I went from debilitating, 15x a day vomiting to like, mildly queasy.

Talk to you OB, but as long as you keep it under 250mg of B6 (the dosage I was recommended was 75 mg plus prenatal) and aren’t too tired from the Unisom, it can really, really make a difference.

  • I take Diclectin which has 10mg of pyridoxine (vitamin B6) and 10mg of doxylamine and it helps a lot. It's not perfect, but I'm more comfortable.
  • Yep - doxylamine is the active ingredient in standard Unisom!

Also ETA: I take 25 mg B6 and a half tab of Unisom every 8 hours - so total of 75 mg, but not at the same time.
  • I’m taking Perelel pre natal vitamins and the first trimester pack has a specific B6 vitamin for anti-nausea!
  • I did unisom and b6 in my first pregnancy and felt worse, this time I’ve found that the vitamin Mio packs that contain 3 different b vitamins help a lot. I’m not sure if it’s just in my head or not - I luckily have not experienced bad nausea with either pregnancy it’s more sudden movement and hunger based for me. So I’m usually good by keeping myself snacking and slowing down
