1st Trimester

Low heartbeat…I am freaking out :(

So I went to the ER for brown spotting yesterday at 5 weeks 2 days. Hcg came back at 3353. They had me come in for an early ultrasound Today and to my surprise, there was a tiny baby and a heartbeat. Baby was measuring 5 weeks 6 days. I celebrated until I heard the results. Heartrate was Very low at 74bpm and they said this could be Because it is so early and getting a reading is
Tricky…or it could be indicative that this will end In miscarriage. They were surprised to see a heart This early. Does anyone have any experiences With healthy pregnancies that started off with A heartrate this low at such an early ultrasound?

My repeat HCG tests came back at a little over double which is good I guess, and I have a repeat ultrasound in 7-10 days. I am so nervous :( I feel like I can’t get excited and the wait is awful.

  • They've told you what they could.  Seeing a heartbeat that early is fairly rare.  If your HCG is still doubling, that is the best news you can hope for, and just waiting to see what your next ultrasound shows.

  • I was more so just looking for some positive stories from people who have gone through the same thing.
  • Unfortunately, even 800 positive stories does not necessarily reflect what will be the outcome for your own PG.  You just have to wait, even though the waiting is awful.  I will repeat what I said, your HCG still doubling at this point is the BEST news.  That is normally THE indication that your PG is progressing normally as it should be at this point.

I know it may sound awful, but the only thing you can do now is to wait for your results. At the moment, try to keep yourself busy and always think positive. Sending you lots of baby dust.
