TW miscarriage- any radiologists / OBs / etc here

Hi ladies. Long story short here but I’ve bled throughout pregnancy however this morning found a large clot and more blood than normal and went straight to emergency having a very bad feeling something with different. Without getting into the horrible treatment I received seven hours in the hospital (or should say lack of empathy) we went from then telling us there’s a heartbeat and crying from relief and sending my hubs home to then doing a routine cervix exam and saying they see tissue and I was likely miscarrying. Icing on cake I went from such a high to low that I then fainted.

I had to wait hours for them to get me into an actual ultrasound (versus bedside) to confirm and then hours for results but essentially they came back with a big we don’t know. Likely miscarriage but you will have to wait it out but “crazier things have happened” (like this would settle a first time pregnant woman who was alone and crying and scared). I checked my health app on the way home to see the actual ultrasound diagnostic and this is what it said.

FINDINGS:

There is a single live intrauterine gestation. Crown-rump length is 23 mm corresponding with a gestational age of 9 weeks 0 days. Fetal heart rate is 180 bpm. There is a small yolk sac.

Avascular echogenic material is present within the cervical canal which could reflect blood products.

If there is anyone in health care or a tech here. What does the second paragraph mean?? Thank you so much. Hug your loved ones tonight

I am so sorry to read about your experience going to emergency. That must have been so emotionally overwhelming to have good news with your husband there and then needing to process the news of possible miscarriage while your alone.

I'm not a medical professional and I don't have a clue what Avascular echogenic material is, but I looked it up on google scholar and saw something talking about blood clots. Could that be an ultrasound tech's way of saying they saw a blood clot in the cervical cannel?

    Sending you so much love.

If there is a heart beat, and 9 wks, 0 days is where you should be, I’m not sure why they’re concerned. You could have a subchorionic hematoma, and that would cause bleeding but shouldn’t affect the baby. Echcogenic material means something is coming up on the ultrasound as being physically present in your cervix. Typically the bay dies before a miscarriage would occur, so you definitely need to ask your doctor to take a look and figure out what’s going on.

That’s why I’m so frustrated… and they just denied a follow up at the EPA clinic based on the ultra. However the MD on call there noted the reason she was thinking miscarriage is due to seeing “tissue” versus a blood clot. Which I can’t seem to get a straight answer how that would be if baby had HR.

I have been cramping non stop since. I’ve always had cramps but they have since worsened. But not sure if that is just normal for some to have every single day of pregnancy
