Team blue/pink/green: undecided, weâll probably find out at the 20 week scan
Upcoming Appointments: 16 week dr check up, 20 week scan
How are you feeling?: pretty good, constipation and headaches are awful but I havenât been nauseous in 2 weeks so Iâll call it a win!
Rants/Raves: i still have a lot of bloating but Iâm embracing it, showing off the bump, even though itâs bloat is exciting. Iâm really annoyed with MIL, sheâs told everyone she knows weâre expecting as if itâs her news. I also have a feeling sheâll start saying âmy babyâ which I am not ok with. Boundaries will be set, donât worry, Iâm good at them!
Questions: those of you that have had a loss, does the guarded feeling ever go away? Iâm excited but itâs always guarded.Â
GTKY: What is your favorite month of the year and why? September, I love fall and September where I live is beautiful. The leaves are changing and the weather stays warm enough during the day. Itâs great.
How are you feeling?: Great! I definitely think I'm feeling some little kicks/movement now.
Rants/Raves: Finally sharing our news with everyone else now, so we told our siblings, some friends, my boss, etc. Somehow it feels more official now that everyone knows.
Questions: None today
GTKY: What is your favorite month of the year and why? March! I live in AZ so May-September can be unbearably hot. March weather is perfect, warm days and cool nights, plus all the flowers are in bloom and it's lovely
EDD / Weeks + Days: Oct 12/ 15 weeks + 3 days FTM/STM/TTM+: FTM
Baby is the size of a (an): orange
Team blue/pink/green: Pink
Upcoming Appointments: May 7
How are you feeling?: Overall loving the energy. Felt pelvic pressure/heaviness over the weekend, but I know thatâs normal as things are growing.Â
Rants/Raves: I donât anticipate that Iâll ever not feel anxious about babyâs health, but the last week Iâve been able to mentally think ahead a bit so thatâs been nice.
Questions: thoughts on co-ed baby shower?
GTKY: What is your favorite month of the year and why? August because itâs my birthday month
Upcoming Appointments: had my 16 week yesterday, next appt May 8. Canât wait for next ultrasound next month!
How are you feeling?: Good! I love having more energy again! Sometimes stressors make me irritable, but otherwise feeling great!
Rants/Raves: Rave: itâs exciting to see how excited others are for us!! Rant: trying to find a house to rent and itâs a long, frustrating process. I know itâll all work out, but the past 3+ months of this has been tough. Â
Questions: Anyone else in Northern California/Bay Area?
GTKY: What is your favorite month of the year and why? I love summer months-I prefer the heat. But I think October may become my new favorite month â¤ď¸đś
Upcoming Appointments: had one yesterday, saw her again! Next is my anatomy scan 5/17 Iâm so excitedÂ
How are you feeling?: So much more energy physically, but mentally Iâm getting that pregnancy brain fog. Lots of leg cramping, soooo hungry and thirsty, and just so happy.Â
Rants/Raves: super silly but I have an anterior placenta so I know I wonât feel her for a while and I asked my doctor yesterday if the bubbling flutters and âkicksâ I feel could be her and she said Iâm just gassy and we laughed!Â
GTKY: What is your favorite month of the year and why? I actually love October because itâs my husbands, dads and dogs birthday as well as my wedding anniversary. Plus the weather is getting cooler but there are still some nice sunny days. Which is why I truly hope her birthday is in October too instead of end of SeptemberÂ
@nataleeagui I think a co-ed baby shower is totally fine and lots of fun. Iâve been to a couple co-Ed and plan to have mine that way. I only have brothers (im very close with them) and a few couple friends that Iâm close to both so Iâd love for everyone to come enjoy this time with me and my husband! Plus my dad is so extremely excited about being a grandpa that I would feel sad leaving him out. Iâm not planning on having a huge baby shower, more of a get together so the more people that love us, the better!Â
Upcoming Appointments: May 17 - fetal echo and anatomy scan
How are you feeling?: whoever asked about pregnancy after loss - I feel the guardedness too! I donât know if it goes away, but Iâve tried to channel it into cautious, but extra, love. I think part of that is also that my open heart surgery anniversary was yesterday and the fetal echo is next month and so thereâs that underlying worry that I hate acknowledging that there could be cardiac issues.Â
But I do feel good this week
Rants/Raves: My rant is that I threw up my breakfast yesterday. I had gone quite a few days without serious nausea and throwing up and had had a really great breakfast - avocado toast with tomatoes and a banana almond smoothie. And it all came up! đ Rave, though, is that Iâve started telling people and my friend immediately started gathering some clothes to pass along to me and offered their old crib that was a pass along from our other friend. My G-ma is buying us a crib, so weâre good there, but that prompted my dad to offer to build the changing table to match for the crib! Itâs lovely too see our support and community sharing our joy.Â
Questions: cloth diapering! Iâm starting to look into it. I have a friend that did it so sheâll be a great resource - but Iâd love insight.Â
Also, baby showers - my mom told me it was bad etiquette to throw your own shower or have the grandma have it for youâŚbut sheâs quite old fashioned. And since our theme (nursery and all) is âour little cutieâ having it at my parents who live in an orange orchard seems just right. So what is the etiquette? Or who even cares about etiquette, right?
GTKY: What is your favorite month of the year and why? December. Really itâs the time from Thanksgiving to Christmas which is about a monthsâ time⌠my love and my stepsonâs birthday fall in that time and itâs always just a lovely time with friends and family.Â
Fun fact: as long as baby isnât early weâll have birthdays in each month. Me - September, Baby girl - October, John - November, & Johnny - December! (I love patterns)
How are you feeling?: Feeling ok. A bit anxious since they found an infection at my last appt that can have some bad outcomes, but treating it and trying to keep my stress levels down til the anatomy scan.Â
Rants/Raves: not really a rant or rave, but I feel like this stage of pregnancy (early 2nd tri) is the worst, lol. I never minded the waves of nausea and fatigue bc I knew those were par for the course. But now, I have no bump, so symptoms, nothing. Other than occasional muscle aches, I don't feel pregnant at all. And being bigger this go around, I know that feeling baby boy may be delayed as well, so just trudging through these early 2nd trimester weeks, lol.Â
Questions: skin care...anybody have any suggestions to pregnancy-safe face masks or facial care? I'm 36 and have big pores, but since my BFP have only been using sensitive-skin wash and moisturizer and it shows. I know retinol is off limits, but I really want my skin to look nice for my maternity photos and not suffer long-term without my usual care routine.Â
GTKY: What is your favorite month of the year and why? October, actually. I love sitting outside bundled up with a coffee in those early mornings when the crisp fall air comes for the first time.Â
@hollyvenelle I've been using the Ordinary products for most of my skincare for years now, so the only change I've made since pregnancy was just dropping my retinol. Their products are very simple and ingredient-forward, and most of the products are actually pretty cheap.
In the morning I use the Hyaluronic acid + Niacinamide + azelaic acid. In the evening I use the Lactic acid + pycnogenol. For mask I use the AHA+BA peeling solution, but rarely, like once every 2wks. And I use the Kate sommerville sulfur cleanser, which is pretty pricey honestly but I think it works well (although it does definitely smell sulfur-y).Â
And for moisturizer I've used the Cerave Moisturizing cream for years and it's honestly the best lotion I've ever used. I used to struggle with dry skin and especially dry hands for so long (my fingertips would literally crack) and this stuff was a lifesaver. Highly highly recommend if you have dry skin.
But that's just me, obv you'll have to try things out to figure out what works for you since your skin may be completely different from me. I will say that I used to struggle with my skin but since switching to Ordinary products my skin has actually been really great, and I haven't noticed any change in my skin at all since becoming pregnant.
@lizzzy217 I had been looking at the Ordinary stuff at Ulta before getting preggo, so I'll have to go check them out again! Thanks for the detailed reply!Â
Upcoming Appointments: I had one on Tuesday; next will be the anatomy scan on 6/3
How are you feeling?: overall so, so much better. Iâm struggling with allergies though đ¤§đž
Rants/Raves: no rants today! My rave is that I got to deep clean the kitchen today and it looks amazing, Iâm so pleased with myself lol
Questions: anyone else feeling movement yet? I think Iâve felt a little here and there! The midwife I saw this week said that the second time around you can feel the baby a month or so earlier and that seems to be happening!
GTKY: What is your favorite month of the year and why? I love all the months and seasons but right now Iâm really eager for July/August - Iâve been craving gazpacho and I canât wait to eat allllll the garden-fresh tomatoes and zucchini and corn and watermelon đ¤¤
Upcoming Appointments: May 15th for standard check up and May 29th for anatomy scan
How are you feeling?: Really good, today is my last day of work on my current film project. I am really looking forward to some time off, especially now that I am feeling more energized. I canât wait to do fun summer stuff with my daughter - going to the childrenâs museum, pool trips, late morning playground visits.Â
Rants/Raves: Rant - Our guest house has a leak in the ceiling and mold growing in the attic, ugh. But rave is we found a guy who is repairing it for a really good price and will be done by Tuesday!Â
Questions: None at the momentÂ
GTKY: What is your favorite month of the year and why? I love pretty much every month/season but I think my favorite is October! I love fall so much and thatâs when the weather gets cooler but still sunny and beautiful here in New Orleans. And now with the new baby I have more reason to love it â¤ď¸
@blueberrylemonade12 - gazpacho is one of my all time favorite food and has been my biggest craving this pregnancy! I made a huge bowl of it a few weeks ago and ate every last bite and canât wait to make more this weekend đ
@dotterjudy - I really wouldnât worry about the proper âetiquetteâ itâs so old fashioned and no one cares! I think itâs totally normal for you to throw your own shower and most definitely not a problem if your mom does it for you! I felt a little weird hosting my own last pregnancy just out of awkwardness so I asked my mom to host it and send out the evites from her email and such but I still planned the whole thing.Â
@nataleeagui - Iâm team co-ed baby shower! I did that last time and it was really fun, we had a ton of people there and it just felt like a big party with our friends. Your partner is becoming a parent, too!Â
