Re: April Symptoms

  • The nausea is next level. I’ve only puked a couple times so far, but I’m so nauseous all the time and I can’t get rid of this awful taste in my mouth no matter what I do. But the worst part is still the coffee aversion! I’m a huge coffee drinker and I just don’t know what to do with myself when I’m not sipping coffee. Having an identity crisis over here, ha.

If this is anything like my previous pregnancies I expect the nausea to get worse and then go away eventually, but the coffee aversion will stay until delivery. It’s like flicking a switch and I like coffee again. I don’t get it.

  • I used to be a huge coffee drinker - morning and afternoon latte every day. I stocked up on decaf and I only drink one on the weekends now. I honestly don't really miss it much.

My doc put me on anti-nausea meds yesterday because my mornings and evenings were spent sitting on the bathroom floor

My worst symptoms: nausea, constipation, fatigue and I'm so bloody sensitive. I'm taking everything personally, which is totally not me and I'm crying so so much. My husband made a joke about not coming grocery shopping with me (the smells are overwhelming and sometimes I can't make it through) and I broke down and said he's can't be so mean to me. lol. It's wild.

I'm currently 8w5d (my doc is one day ahead but I'm sticking with the ultrasound tech via measurements)
  • @mitchip we’re due date twins! I’m also 8w5d today! Hoping the nausea fades for both of us soon, I think I’ll ask for zofran next appt. I had it last time and it really did help.

  • 11w3days and ive been experiencing cramps this week . i just hope nothings wrong

  • 9w 4d here. I was put on meds over a week ago for my nausea. It has helped tremendously but I still feel icky a lot of the time and I’m so unmotivated to do anything. I’m downright lazy and I’m usually on my feet all day long, keeping busy. I had a headache for the last 3 days. It finally passed today. Also the salivating is SO BAD. I have to keep a trash can by the couch because every few minutes my mouth is pooled with saliva and swallowing it makes me much more icky.
  • This is literally me. Feel so nauseous all the time and I also was just put on nausea meds every 6 hours. Only puking like 2 times a day but constantly nauseous 😱
  • Same! The anti nausea meds are making me feel run down and “icky” is honestly the best word!!
  • Yeah I can't do B6 + unisom/diclegis, it's zofran or nothing for me. B6 has never worked and there's no way I'm taking a sleep aid when my baby wakes up 3-5 times a night and I have to be up for work at 5am!

  • I'm 9w today. The nausea hasn't been too bad so far though it's definitely kicked up a notch this week. I've been wearing my seabands most mornings to take the edge off it. I've been a lot better today as I've definitely noticed a pattern that if I'll feel a lot worse if I've not had much sleep and feel a lot better I've I've been able to sleep in.

For other symptoms, I'm so fatigued! This pregnancy has definitely been the worst for fatigue I'm just exhausted all the time. Yesterday I had two naps.

I also burp loads when I'm pregnant, it's gross and really contributes to the nausea. Everything I eat sits in my stomach for ages and takes forever to digest and produces so much gass.

Lastly I'm not sure but I think I might of had some braxton hicks last night. 🤷‍♀️ Apparently they start at 6 weeks but you can't usually feel them until later. I had a lot with DS2, daily from 20w. I'm not sure something felt weird sort of tight and tickling not painful at all.
  • @cornichonmam ugh with you on the burping! I hate it.

On top of everything, now I'm also getting a cold. Ughhhh. I knew I would because my son brought it home from preschool, I always get what he has. At least it's not Covid, which I had when 12 weeks pregant with my daughter... that was the worst :s

  • The burps!!!! I am 10 weeks and they have been around since 4 weeks. It was my first symptom before I even tested positive. It really does make the nausea and bad tastes in my mouth so much worse.
And I’m not a coffee drinker, but I love hot tea and the thought of that now is unbearable. So many food aversions, but thankfully the nausea is starting to ease up a bit. I seem to have traded it for indigestion and heart burn.
I’ve got quite a bump already and am noticing a lot of stretching and ligament tightness. Prenatal yoga has been a huge help this week.
  • @etnyah @mamahen521 I'm glad it's not just me 😅. In previous  pregnancies I took some unbranded pregnancy vitamins with a multi vit and fish oil tablet, with added ginger. The only issue fishy ginger burps all the time 🤢. This time I've gone for the more expensive ones at least until I'm out of the first trimester.
  • Okay, not a symptom but this cold is kicking my ass! Being sick in the first trimester is the second worst thing (the worst: being sick in the third trimester). My throat is on fire and every time I blow my nose, cough or sneeze I almost puke. I’m so friggin miserable. And I somehow have to make it to the office tomorrow after WFH all last week. Ugh the timing couldn’t be worse!

Actually did some online maternity clothes retail therapy to make myself feel better. I got rid of all my maternity clothes a while ago since we were done having babies (lol, joke’s on me) and none of my pants fit anymore.

  • The last time I was pregnant (loss) my heartburn was unbearable. Handily this time it’s a symptom I don’t have! (Knocking on wood). I do make sure I sit upright for at least an hour after I eat anything tho.

I’ve noticed tight ligaments when I stretch to one side in my pelvis and it hurts like a B when you reach quick and it pulls. Prenatal yoga sounds like a great idea. I’ll look for some videos on YouTube.

I’m also glad I’m not the only one whose pants are getting tight! I’ve been inking window shopping for maternity bottoms for a week now. Might have to take the plunge.
  • I bought maternity clothes at only 7 weeks! It’s my first pregnancy, but my lower belly popped out right away and there was no getting pants buttoned. Honestly, I had to buy almost a whole new wardrobe because my breasts have gotten so much bigger already too! Tops didn’t fit either. Everything I bought is super stretchy and I hope it fits most of the pregnancy.
  • With my first pregnancy I didn't need mat clothes until way later, but this time the bloat is unreal. I look about as big as I was at 15 weeks with my first and I'm only 9! Yesterday I took my kids to the playground, wearing a pair of pants that are usually on the bigger side and have an elastic waist, they were digging in so hard it actually made me throw up. I changed into pj pants as soon as we got home. I can still wear leggings and I have a lot of loose tops and dresses, but I need pants for work!

Also, I have a feeling hiding this bump will be hard, we haven't really told anyone but MIL and I'm not ready to tell work yet. I've been really vocal about being done having kids and I just feel like they won't take another mat leave well. Ugh I hate that having kids is seen as such an inconvenience in the workplace.

  • same! I finally got a few days of reprieve this weekend, but I have been struggling. All good seems awful. Very ready for this stage to pass

I'm lucky that I work in rural agriculture so I get to wear leggings and a hoodie to work everyday but my belly popped right away too because I was on hormones before my embryo transfer so the hormone bloat is unreal. But again, no one really notices because of my hoodie.
My jeans won't button anymore tho!

My husband is VERY clueless about anything pregnancy related and doesn't believe that I should need maternity clothes yet. He thinks it's all the perogies - which I'm sure isn't helping. hahaha.

EDIT to add: anybody try anything maternity related from shein?? I'm cheap lol.
  • My symptoms have dropped to practically nothing over the last 3-4 days and last night I noticed a small amount of spotting. I’m feeling so nervous and discouraged now. It feels like a loss is coming 😞
  • @dead82head oh no, I’m so sorry :( is there any way you can be seen by your provider for an ultrasound asap?

For what it’s worth, I spotted and bled throughout the first trimester with my son, and ended up having an otherwise uneventful, textbook pregnancy. It’s definitely possible to spot and have a good outcome! But yeah the lack of symptoms would have me on edge too. I hope you can be seen very soon, crossing my fingers for you!

  • @mitchip not to be that person lol, but in honor of earth day I’ll put a plug in for second hand mat clothes shopping. You’ll get the same prices as Shein but much better quality (and less unethical baggage). I buy most of my clothes used but especially mat clothes and baby clothes, since they’re worn for such a short period of time they’re almost always excellent quality! My favorite place to shop online is ThredUp, they have a great maternity clothes section. I got stuff that sells for $100 and up new for a fraction of the original price, some new with tags!

  • @etnyah thank you so much. I was able to get in for an ultrasound today… my appointment is in an hour.
  • @dead82head oh that’s great news! I hope the hour goes by fast, keep us updated! Thinking of you.

  • @etnyah looks like I am having a loss. Thank you everyone here for your support and great convo! I wish everyone the best of luck with your pregnancies and pray none of you meet the same misfortune as me. Lots of love mammas!
  • Oh no @dead82head, I'm so incredibly sorry. It's just so friggin unfair. It was really nice getting to know you for a short while, please take care of yourself. And give yourself grace and time to grieve and heal. Hugs, friend  <3

  • @mitchip Mercari is another great used clothing app where you buy right from the seller. It tends to be pretty inexpensive. I am not a big fan of SHEIN, but I did order a few mat dresses from them specifically because I plan to have a “little cutie” clementine themed shower and they had a dress with oranges on it! Everything I got was intended to be loose fitting and I used the size guides for each individual item and went by my bust size for the dresses. Everything fit.
  • I've only ordered from Shein once before and wasn't overly impressed, but I figured I'm only wearing it for a short while, it wouldn't be a big deal. I'd prefer not to support them as I believe they're practices are pretty unethical.

ThredUp is a great idea. Thrifting is pretty popular here so the thrift shops aren't stocked with anything I like and I didn't see much maternity stuff at all. Lots of baby stuff but the prices are actually pretty up there.

That shower idea is so cute @mamahen521!! Are you going to be finding out baby's gender?
  • Thanks! We do plan to find out the gender. I don’t think we are doing NIPT since it isn’t medically necessary for us and because of that, our insurance won’t cover it. So we will find out the old fashioned way on an ultrasound in June or July. My first shower will be 4th of July weekend since family will already be gathered, so we are thinking of using that as both a shower and a gender reveal. I love that the oranges are gender neutral since we won’t know gender before invites go out.
  • @dead82head I'm very sorry. Wishing you all the best in the future. XOXO
  • I'm glad I'm not the only one that doesn't fit in their jeans. With it being my third I'm very much in the awkward stage where I just look a bit fat. Luckily I found some old post partum jeans that are a size up and I can still get in them for the moment, I did the hairband trick for a while last time too.

I actually got a lot of wear out of my maternity clothes. I got pretty much only maternity and breastfeeding clothes, mainly dresses and ended up wearing them for over a year each time.
  • Yep, the bloat is here and I just don’t feel like sucking in my tummy anymore. Also, got some nausea for the first time yesterday. Makes sense as I’m 9 weeks today and that’s peak HCG time. I don’t normally eat breakfast but have needed to for the last 5 or so days. Guess this is my new normal! Still exhausted and boobs are getting bigger and still sensitive AF. Excited to hear baby in a few weeks at our next prenatal appt!

  • So many burps, all the time!
Thankfully I only had cramping from weeks 5 to 8/9, and nausea from 5 to 10, so have been fairly good for the last few weeks as I'm now at 12 and hopefully over the first trimester fatigue and gnarly symptoms.
I have been battling strep the last few days, which is no fun at all. Feeling bad because there's so much to do around the house and I've been off work for three days... Just can't seem to find the energy to do mundane chores (and telling myself I should be resting to get better).
We have our nuchal ultrasound next week, so I'm excited to see the little nugget again! A little nervous about the results as I'm 39 and my partner is 36, but I think it's all going to be okay.

    Hang in there mommas!
