Poop

These hormones are really ruining my BMs.  I asked dr about it and she said take a stool softener daily.  Every stool softener I have seen is a lax and says don’t take for over a week.  Am I looking in wrong spots?  Are there softeners that are daily use safe without explosions?  I having smell aversions so no powder/drinks. But what is everybody else doing/ using?  Prior to this, I had multiple poo a day and not one of the pregnancy joys I was anticipating.

Re: Poop

  • I am taking fiber capsules (annoying because you have to take so many but better than powders) and magnesium glycinate. Things are finally FINALLY moving again. Don’t forget to drink more water that you think too. It’s hard with all the peeing, but it helps move things along everywhere.

  • The Fiber capsules made me throw up lol.
My doctor put me on restoralax which is a tasteless powder that dissolves in your drink.

And I second drinking it with ALOT of water. These things can do the opposite depending on how much water you drink with it.
  • Took a stool softener this morning and nothing still.  I drink a lot of water and surprisingly not running to restroom all the time :/. Had busy day and didn’t want to be in a UhOh stitch, but tomorrow day 6 with no BM and getting blaaaaaah.  Guess I need to try these powders. Do you drink it daily or an as needed
  • I drink mine daily.
I did have to do an enema do get things moving again after a week of no BM.
It wasn’t fun but it was worth it after.
  • Just starting week 10 and things are moving again! I’ve been on progesterone which was making it worse!
  • We still are telling folks yet until first trimester over for me and texted the hubs like ahhhhhhh finally!  lol he was like you pooped? Romance may be dead lol
  • Pedialyte has been helping me with constipation.
  • @midwestkab My hubby's daily updates are: "Baby is the size of .... and I still haven't pooped"
  • Super random here ladies. But with my constipation and any sort of bowl movement straining I find I start spotting. Only when straining however never just when peeing. Does anyone else have this???
  • @sonjakuehnle I've had that happen a few times! Once this pregnancy and a couple times last pregnancy. It's pretty common and nothing to be worried about (although seeing blood is never fun...). It's likely that the pressure from straining is irritating your cervix, which is way sensitive and full of blood now! So the bleeding is probably from the cervix and not from the vagina. If you've had sex (I haven't, lol. Wayyy to sick) that could cause bleeding too!

  • Oh my word this makes me feel so much better. I’ve had emergency ultrasounds and gone to Urgent care and the doctors are so uncaring - “either it’s nothing or you’re going to miscarry”
  • @sonjakuehnle ugh that is so disappointing about the doctors! I'm so sorry, any bleeding during pregnancy is super stressful to experience no matter how common it is. They could have at least given you a couple common reasons for benign bleeding to ease your nerves.

If you've had ultrasounds and everything looks fine, I think it's pretty safe to say the type of bleeding you're experiencing is not a sign of an impending miscarriage.
