Pepto-Bismol while Pregnant

Hello!
Im ten weeks pregnant and I took a single pepto chewable tablet last night to help with my nausea not realizing that I’m actually not allowed to have pepto. I discovered this after I had the tablet. I called a health care provider non emergency number and they said to call a pharmacist. I contacted one but they said they would call me back after they researched a bit more. Should I be worried? Do I need to go to my doctor to make sure all is well? This is my first  baby and I’m literally sick to my stomach that I may have harmed it. Just seeking advice from others to reassure myself because I’m not getting straight answers.

  • I’m no expert but I think if you only took it once you’re ok. Just don’t take anymore and try not to stress it. Ask your doctor if you can try Dramamine. That helped me a lot. Or your doctor can write you a prescription for nausea meds. I’m taking Bonjesta and it’s working great!

  • I wouldn't stress too much. My parents are pharmacists so they look things up for me and it might take your pharmacist little while.

Having had a quick look on the Internet it seems like the main concern is bleeding in the third trimester because it had a similar compound to aspirin.

Very few drugs are actually cleared for use in pregnancy because it's unethical to test drugs on pregnant women. But there are different degrees of 'not recommended' and hopefully the pharmacist can tell you where it falls.
