Re: Product Spotlight - Car Seats 🚗

  • I have started my extensive research for a car seat and I’m leaning towards getting the Nuna Rava but I’m worried about a newborn fitting! Description says it’s suitable for newborn/5 lb minimum. Has anyone else opted for a convertible car seat for their newborn?

I’m not a huge fan of the detachable infant seat situation + I won’t be buying a stroller that needs that attachment.

  • For my first baby I got a Nuna Revv and I love it so much… but it’s pricy! (It was a very generous gift from my aunt). It’s a convertible car seat but it also rotates so way easier to load my daughter in and out of the car. For this baby I went ahead and got the Nuna Rava because I’ve heard great things and it was $150 off a few weeks ago. I haven’t set it up yet, but so far I’m very impressed with the Nuna products.

some pros of the detachable infant seat are that if baby falls asleep you don’t have to wake them up to load in/out of the car. Also if you have multiple cars then you only need one car seat and can buy additional bases. But I honestly was fine without the infant seat, I’m grateful I haven’t had to buy a new car seat at all since she was born and she’s now 18 months. And we have a ways to go before she outgrows it!
  • We bought the Nuna Rava once our toddler outgrew the infant car seat. I personally found the infant car seat extremely convenient to carry into and out of places without needing to take baby out all of the time ( octor’s appointments, grocery stores, dropping off the dog at daycare, etc.). We have been using the Nuna Rava for almost a year. We also have two other convertible car seats and by far love the Nuna Rava best. I highly recommend it.

Infant & Child seats are a must have in cars if you are ferrying them around even for short distances...

Its all about discipline & having a sense of responsibility for your loved ones...

I personally like Maxi-Cosi & Combi...They both can remove the covers to wash easily...

Child seats are not expensive now a days, not like in the past, so I really dislike people who do

away with them & let their children climb all over the place. That is just plain lazy & irresponsible.

As for the selection types, you have to see how big your vehicle is in the first place. Some like a Carrier here here

which attaches to a Pram so they save space, but some prefer seperate ones, so they don't have to remove

the seat from the vehicle. Its also a personal preference...

Just select one that suites your family best & drive carefully because not Child Seat at the end of the day

can save your child from a bad accident..

I think I'm leaning towards a Nuna product as well, but I'm opting for their infant car seat instead. It's kind of annoying having to buy another car seat once it is outgrown, but I just like the idea/convenience of having a portable infant car seat for the first year or so.
I'm leaning towards the Pipa Aire, and I think I'm going to be buying either the Mixx Next or Demi Next stroller as well, so it'll be directly compatible.

I'm also considering the Uppababy Aria + Vista V2 travel system. It looks similar in both price and features to the Nuna Mixx Next + Pipa aire system, so I really don't know which to get!
  • I haven’t tried any other infant car seat but the Uppababy Mesa. We love the Vista V2 system; but one thing that I found difficult was how heavy the Mesa is. Once baby got heavier, I found it hard to lift the car seat high up into the car. It might be worth doing some weight comparison…or weight lifting 😅.
