2nd Trimester

Overheating, round ligament pain, hunger & clinginess

I don’t really write in here but I found out about my second pregnancy back in October 2023, currently 17 weeks and I’ve been struggling with nobody to talk to about this. I’ve been dealing with round ligament pain for at least 3 days out the week and it feels like period pains but only in the lower abdominal, sides & lower back. I almost fainted while cooking dinner today.. I have a gas stove and it’s soo extremely HOT. I got pasty, clammy, and extremely weak to the point I couldn’t stand and I could hardly stand. Lately Ive been grateful to have my appetite back but sheesh am I starving and I have to have a constant snack around the clock or I’ll start to feel nauseous accompanied by a headache. Last but not least… I’ve never been such a clingy person especially during pregnancy. I hate to feel like I’m bothering him but I need my belly rubbed at all times n forehead kisses to feel safe and secure. Let’s not get into being an emotional wreck .

  • Those sudden pains are so very draining and it is so annoying how you can be perfectly fine one moment and only fit for a nap the next. Now that it’s my second pregnancy and my can feel the baby earlier, I’ve realized that some of the sudden pain that I thought was round ligament pain the first time is baby stretching out the area (I also tend to get an immediate headache when this happens), so rubbing the area and getting the baby to move can help. I tend to feel the baby more and get more of the stretching pain for a few days, then I seem to get bigger, feel the baby less, and get a bit of a break for a few days. It seems like the baby has a growth spurt, I’m starving, and feel the baby more, then my uterus grows to accommodate for temporary relief.
I drink a ton of water and eat every 2 to 3 hours—something with carbs (energy) and protein—to keep the nausea at bay.
I also crave more cuddling and affection from my husband. I get him to rub belly cream on my belly every night. It’s a great excuse for tummy rubs and it’s not like I can see my stretch marks myself, so it’s dual purpose.
I think we can be forgiven for our emotions being out of control and forgetting things or doing stupid things when our hormones working to grow a child, and causing our brains to be rewired. It’s hard work!

Anyway, we’re all here with you. Almost half way there, and then once this is done, my husband will get scheduled for the good old snip snip, because two pregnancies is definitely enough for me!
  • I'm 16 weeks with my first! I've been having cramp like feelings and HORRIBLE gas. My doctor recommended a belly band to help with round ligament pain. It does feel like cramps on my lower abdomen. I'm always worried because I'm not sure if all this is normal but my doc didn't say she was concerned.
