Miscarriage/Pregnancy Loss

HCG level question

So I went for my first blood draw this past Monday (25th) and it was 108. Five days later I went to a different lab and my second draw was 107. Today I went to the first lab where I got the 108 and now it's 75. I'm 4 weeks and 6 days. I take it this is gonna end in a miscarriage?

Re: HCG level question

  • @wwf777 Did the doctor talk to you at all about your numbers and pregnancy?  HCG is supposed to double every 48 hours.  I'm not a medical professional, but I've tracked my HCG up and down for 4 of my 5 miscarriages, and in my opinion, you are definitely having a miscarriage.  I'm so sorry.  I would call your doctor to confirm and see what specific advice they may have for your situation.

  • I'm waiting for a call back, but so far no bleeding or cramping or any signs of a miscarriage but I'm bracing myself for one. All my tests keep coming back positive too. My last miscarriage the levels dropped way quicker.
  • @wwf777 Yeah, in my experience, sometimes it drops faster and sometimes slower.  I think it has to do with a variety of things, like how far along you were, how quickly your body decided the PG was non-viable and started working that way, etc.  If you've had a few MCs, I'd definitely ask about going to a RE and getting a RPL panel of tests done.  It only helps with answers in about half of the cases, but at least you'd know you're not losing babies for something that can be easily tweaked for your situation.
