Re: Weekly Check-in (3/25-3/31) 🐣 🐰
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Finding out (soon hopefully, NIPT test this week!)
Baby is the size of a(n): Reese's cup
Upcoming appointments: I go tomorrow for my 1st lab work
How are you feeling? Tired today, but nausea has been forgiving this week.
Raves/Rants: My only rant atm is my fault, LOL. We moved last August to a more rural area, and the closest hospital with an L&D is about 45 mins away and half of that is country roads. I'm making my husband take a class, just in case I end up needing to deliver in the dang car because the drive, HAHA!
Questions: So, we were planning to announce our pregnancy and the sex all together to the family on Easter, but since my NIPT testing is tomorrow I don’t think the samples will make it to the lab and get tested before Friday, as I am sure they are closed the weekend. Would you just wait a few days and announce so you can do it all together? If we wait we wouldn't do a seperate gender reveal, the only "gender" specific thing about our announcement for Easter was the color confetti coming out of the piñata. Part of me wants to wait til we have the results, that way when we tell our 5 year old she doesn't have time to pick which gender she'd prefer and then get disappointed, lol, even though I know she'll want a sister.
GTKY: What holidays do you celebrate in March? Do you do anything especially special for those holidays? We have Irish heritage, so Paddy's Day is usually one we celebrate, but didn't really go out this year, just watched the parade in Ireland on TV. Easter is the last day of this month, too, and we'll be coloring eggs, doing the egg hunt, and possibly announcing the new baby that day!
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Finding out! Did NIPT last week, expecting the results this week!
Baby is the size of a(n): lime
Upcoming appointments: 4/18, will officially be in 2nd trimester by then!
How are you feeling? For the most part pretty great. I've been symptom-lite in general, but most of the symptoms I have had have almost completely subsided. It was a relief to feel so much more energetic last week, I finally feel like I'm getting things done.
Raves/Rants: I know it's just the beginnings of a baby bump, but I feel sooo fat right now. Since we haven't told anyone yet, I keep wondering if people think I look pregnant or if I'm just packing on the pounds
GTKY: What holidays do you celebrate in March? Do you do anything especially special for those holidays? Our wedding anniversary, we're celebrating 5yrs this month
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: undecided
Baby is the size of a(n): lime
Upcoming appointments: first trimester screening blood work and 12 week scan
How are you feeling? Pretty good today, been able to figure out how to get more protein which helps nausea.
Raves/Rants: I have to have a discussion with the husband about midwife vs ob care. He is on the side of ob but I’m not sure why since I’m still considered low risk. I gave up a career in healthcare and would like to avoid all kinds of unnecessary intervention that is common with ob births.
Questions: any advice on the above? This is (hopefully) our first baby, 2nd pregnancy.
GTKY: What holidays do you celebrate in March? Do you do anything especially special for those holidays? St patty's day not because we are Irish but enjoy a Guinness and pub food(obviously not this year). And Easter of course! My birthday is tomorrow so we celebrate that too!
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: just found out-it’s a girl! 💗
Baby is the size of a(n): plum
Upcoming appointments: April 22 (just had my 12 week yesterday)
How are you feeling? Almost passed out this morning at work, which wasn’t great. But otherwise pretty good. Still some nausea and a little tired, but hopefully on the up and up with that! 🤞
Raves/Rants: I’m so grateful for an amazingly supportive partner who is helping out even more right now. 💗 And grateful for supportive, excited family and friends as we start spreading our news!
Questions: I have a few formal/cocktail attire events coming up in the next few weeks and months—any suggestions for where to shop for nice (but not super expensive) maternity dresses?
GTKY: What holidays do you celebrate in March? Do you do anything especially special for those holidays? Celebrated my birthday, and joined a neighbor tonight for his break fast for Ramadan.
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: finding out hopefully next week after my NIPT this week!
Baby is the size of a: lego mini figurine or cardinal tetra fish
Upcoming appointments: today or tomorrow for NIPT blood draw (just depends on when I can get to the lab)
How are you feeling?: symptom-wise? Pretty good! Not nauseated anymore so that’s a huge plus. Still not exactly hungry though. Not motivated or energetic for important things like work 🫠
Raves/Rants: rant! I tried to fill this out and submit 3 times yesterday but kept getting sidetracked. This is how my life has been lately. Rave! We told our immediate family (parents and siblings) this weekend and both my FIL and dad cried happy tears. It was precious
Questions: I can’t think of any at the moment. Others have asked some good ones though!
GTKY: What holidays do you celebrate in March? Do you do anything especially special for those holidays?: I used to celebrate St. paddy’s with a good pub crawl, pub food and the parade (we used to live in Savannah, GA so it was a big event) but that’s faded away. I haven’t started anything with my daughter. We have ALWAYS celebrated Easter though with a basket/gift and Easter egg hunt. We aren’t religious but like the joy the Easter bunny brings

@knottie3d1020a70b8db805 (have you tried to change your username?) I highly suggest following your gut when it comes to midwife versus OB. I’d definitely find some solid research about midwifery care (if he’s a research guy). I lean towards midwives if you want to avoid the “business of being born” My husband also didn’t love the idea of midwives for our first because he was scared of all the what ifs, but he came around and honestly we wouldn’t have done it any other way. I get pretty granola while pregnant 😂
@hollyvenelle my husband would convince me to wait for NIPT. BUT it would be fun to do a double announcement 😆 I’m not much help.

Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: green!
Baby is the size of a(n): length of a Bobby pin
Upcoming appointments: 4/22 for 16 week check
How are you feeling? I feel like I’m just eating all the time! My nausea has ramped up since going off IVF meds (or maybe the placenta taking over?) and I have to eat all the time to keep from vomiting. I love food but the constant need for snacks is driving me a little nuts!
Raves/Rants: I think my rant is just above 😆 my rave is that I pruned our peach trees on Monday and they look great. Hoping for many peaches this summer!
Questions: none I think!
GTKY: What holidays do you celebrate in March? Do you do anything especially special for those holidays? We celebrate Holy Week and Easter 🐣 And my son’s birthday on 3/2!
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Found out I’m having a girl!
Baby is the size of a(n): lemon / daisy
Upcoming appointments: 3/29 for my 13 week scan.
How are you feeling? My nose is still blocked so I’ve been sleeping horribly. I have allergic rhinitis but my symptoms started earlier in the year / severity as rhinitis can occur due to pregnancy as well. I can’t take my medication while pregnant so I’ve been suffering… I toss and turn all night, I wake up feeling like I’m suffocating, and I’ve restored to mouth breathing at night so my mouth/lips are always dry and some nights my bloody oxygen level is low (according to my Apple Watch).
Raves/Rants: rave is that my hair looks amazing. The combination of my new salon shampoo, prenatal vitamins and hormones are really making my hair glossy.
GTKY: What holidays do you celebrate in March? Do you do anything especially special for those holidays?
I don’t really celebrate any holidays in general besides Japanese and Chinese New Year culturally (I’m Japanese and my husband is Chinese). I have to do research on holidays and such, since neither of us celebrated any holidays but I want my kid to experience some in the US.
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: kind of leaning toward boy! But happy with whatever.
Baby is the size of a(n): cherry… postage stamp… gumball
Upcoming appointments: April 18th for 12 week ultrasound + NIPT
How are you feeling? Pretty good! Brain fog is the worst, I feel really dumb most days. Headaches and my boobs hurt most at night. Today I took a 30 min nap, so feeling super tired during the day but at night the insomnia kicks in and it takes me awhile to get to sleep. Which makes it even harder to wake up in the morning.
Raves/Rants: Rant.., some days I feel like my symptoms are less and it makes me nervous about miscarrying. But I look bloated all the time, so feeling bigger for sure.
Questions: how do you deal with anxiety about miscarriage?
GTKY: What holidays do you celebrate in March? Do you do anything especially special for those holidays? We celebrate all the things! Definitely St. Pattys day- my husband always cooks corned beef and cabbage. Then my stepdaughters birthday is 3/29, so we are celebrating this week. Then Easter we have a few traditions like baskets, coloring eggs and then egg fights (we don’t throw them at each other, but we take the eggs we colored and smash them together and whosever breaks loses, and then we peel them and eat them). And my dad’s birthday is 3/31, so Easter this year so lots to celebrate! We are also telling our families with big plastic Easter eggs and inside we have the sonogram, a grandparent shirt and a “hatching October 2024” paper. So I am so looking forward to seeing our parents reaction to those!
@ledelight: your egg surprise is going to be so cute and exciting! I love your creative idea. 🤗
@lovelee3 I’ll keep you posted on the dresses!
@ledelight, I can't wait to hear how your family reacts to that awesome announcement!!! So cute!
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: we plan to find out ASAP
Baby is the size of a(n): cherry
Upcoming appointments: April 1, last appt with fertility specialist before we graduate to the OB!
How are you feeling? My nausea is not as constant but I still get waves of it. Having more food aversions now. Had to give up coffee completely because it made everything worse
Raves/Rants:
Questions:
GTKY: What holidays do you celebrate in March? Do you do anything especially special for those holidays? Not really celebrating March holidays at this point. Growing up it was always corned beef and cabbage for St. Patrick’s day and then traditional Easter events for Easter. I’ve just been too tired to do anything recently.
