Stomach Firm

FTP so sorry if this sounds silly but anyone else wake up one day and their stomach was just firm and not soft anymore? I’m 20 weeks and all of a sudden my stomach is firm to the touch and isnt going back to being soft or squishy. I’m guessing it’s normal, but I read articles about stomach tightening vs being hard and I can’t really understand the difference? Any 2nd or 3rd time moms out there to give me some clarity?

Re: Stomach Firm

  • I’m 24 weeks and on my second pregnancy and have the same thing. I never had it with my first but I find I’m carrying all on the front this time. Not sure if that’s why. It’s putting lots of pressure on my pelvis though.

  • Yes! My poor muscles have been so sore if I even walk too much. It feels like I have a bowling ball strapped to my front. I’m scared for how much bigger I’ll get and how heavy it’s going to be!
  • I had this with all my pregnancies, the stomach tightening would come from Braxton hicks and you’ll feel your muscles contracting and some slight discomfort with those. Your stomach getting hard is more of an all the time thing because the baby is there and growing more and more. If you’re not feeling anything weird muscular wise and it’s just an all the time thing that’s normal and will probably last through the end of your pregnancy, I know it did with mine.
