Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Working From Home

Anyone working from home? If so what is your routine? My baby is about to be 4 months and it's tuff. Any tips from any WFH mommas?

Re: Working From Home

  • I’m a FTM and a WFH mom. My little guy just turned 4 months, and it has been extremely tough. Im also exclusively breastfeeding. One game changer has been investing in a standing desk. I put the baby in a carrier and he stays chill and most often even falls asleep while I stand and work. His sleep schedule is more predictable now so I wake up an hour earlier and do as much as I can before he wakes up like get myself ready, prep lunch and dinner, read emails, etc. I would also suggest blocking off 15 minute periods in your work calendar like twice a day (or three times if possible) to focus on baby and do tummy time and exercises and use some energy. I’m trying to avoid screens as much as possible but there are times when it’s useful, especially during a meeting and he’s fussy. Hey Bear sensory videos on YouTube are a lifesaver when I need to focus. I would also suggest rotating baby in new spaces every hour or so (playmat, swing, pack and play, etc.). Lastly, try to get out of the house for both of you. You need the mental break and getting out does the baby good and “resets” them. A 15-20 minute walk is all you need. Sending positive vibes you’re way! You’re doing great!

  • Agree with the standing desk! Note that you don't necessarily have to buy a whole new desk, I got one that goes on top of an existing surface. Like this: https://www.amazon.com/VIVO-Adjustable-Converter-Workstation-DESK-V000K/dp/B075JYG2TB
